CFIs Needed

Feel free to send your resume, but speaking Chinese won't be an advantage as the Students are forbidden to speak anyhing but English in the classroom or in the plane. They are onlly allowed to speak Chinese in the dorms. In fact we have a Chinese instructor who is not even alowed to let the students know he is Chinese. If asked he is supposed to claim to be Korean.

I am Chinese. Would I have to claim to be Korean too? That would be a dealbreaker for me. Could I claim to be Phillipino instead. I friggin hate Koreans and would not want any of my fellow Chinese to think I am such. Thanks!

The claiming to be Korean thing never stuck, it was obvious to the students he was Chinese, so no you would not have to claim to be Korean. However, it is a Korean run company so if you hate Koreans it would not be the place for you.

I'm not sure if anybody left Sierra with a favorable opinion of Korean businessmen!

T-minus 12 days till Skywest. Got the memory items pretty much down. Where you based, flyguy? I hear MKE and ORD are probable for new guys.

But a ####storm is coming, and I WILL let everyone know what happens (I might be outta a job soon). Flyguy call me I need to fill you in on what happened.

So, whats the scoop Boston?? The S hit the fan yet? Or maybe you're already at ExpressJet.....

Express should have a domicile at MER. Or at least a once weekly shuttle to IAH for interviews. :yar:

I'm at ORD but was awarded DEN effecive 12/1. By the time you get out on the line I'll probably be getting ready to go to DEN, but we still will probably cross paths at some point. If you get ORD (and you probably will) you can take my crashpad when I move out. Give me a call if you get ORD and are interrested. I'm not sure if I gave you my number. PM me if not.

Nice. How long are guys (and gals) sitting reserve at ORD?
Reserve??? What's that??? We have more lines than we have FOs at ORD. There is no reserve. The only reason we may have reserve is because we don't finnish IOE before the end of the bid period and they build a composit line for us. Other than that, we get a line right away.

Or am I going to be sweating it as a commuter?
:yeahthat:

I'd recommend one. Not all the trips are commutable, and getting in and out of ORD can be stressfull if you don't have plenty of backup options. Like I said, you can take my spot at my pad when I leave. $170 per month, convienient location, great roommates.

Count me in! Thanks man!

Hey buddy, I herd you had a blast at the batchor party. I was going to hitch a ride up with Helmet (due to his large head) and Redhead, but something came up. Well, things aren't so hot at sierra, and I'm applying tomorrow morning to express, as I just passed 100 multi tonight, but I"m dog tired. Congrats on getting on with Skywest, what class are you in? Mr. Clean, (I hate giving out names, pm me) is in class on for the Bro, starting September 4th? i'd guess? Ohh well, get at me, and I'll fill you in.

What's going on over there at Castle now? Is the place still in operation?

As you can see, I just couldn't let a good thread go to waste :)

They must still be in operation. The other day I was flying from SFO to BOI and as we were out over the SMF area climbing throught about FL290, I'm monitoring guard and hear a Chinese accent saying "Castle ground, Alarus ###AM taxi to runway 31...."

So, how is Sierra these days? Reading this thread, I'm somewhat tempted to go check it out after I get my cfi.

Anyone know the current status of whether they make you stay 10 months???

I read in this thread that the 10 month commitment wasn't being enforced per CA labor laws, but I spoke with a dude from Dreamline Recruiting (George A.), who said you have to stay 10 months, regardless of what anyone says.

Did all of you guys stay the full 10? What happens if you don't stay 10???

Also, does anyone know if it really comes out to $3500/month??? Just wondering if that's a realistic number.

I've already got 300TT/125multi, so I think I could only commit to 10 mos if I was actually, truly, saving $3500 or so per month.

Lots of people left last year before their ten months was up and nothing happened to any of them.

As for the pay, last summer my goal was $1,700 to $2,000 per paycheck (two paychecks per month) and I did attain that goal for a few months in a row. You just have to work a lot.

Apparently they have raised the pay, but have also done a bunch of goofy stuff that basically negated the raise until the instructors threw a fit. I don't know much about that; you'll have to wait for a current employee to chime in about that.

But yes, you can save a lot of money up there if it is anything like it was last year.

hahaha awesome. Yup, must still be in operation.

So, George started his own recruiting firm, eh? That's probably the best way to do business with Sierra.... provided their checks don't bounce :)
