CFIs Needed

Negative, he was born and raised till the 4th grade in Mass, and yes I'm nickpicking, alright, time to go out party.

Huh, you learn something new everyday. But still, you'd think after 50 some odd years the accent would have faded.

Hi

I was following this thread for quite a while now.
I've read on sierras homepage that they also get instructors with an F Visa through their partner university?
I wonder...what is their partner university?

Is it possible to work for them as a cfi with an f visa from their partner university if I didn't do my commercial etc. at sierra?

Seems like more and more flight schools catering to foreign students are popping up in the Bay Area.

It is my impression that it might not be only the Bay area. On my recent trip to myrtle beach I visited one school that had a lot of Norweigans and Danish students I believe, and here in New Orleans at the Lakefront airport I see lots of Indian students every time I go flying. Flight training in US is just so much better and easier than anywhere else I think.

Embry Riddle, but that is up at the Livermore campus

I'm not sure about visa requirements, but if you have a legal right to work in the US and have a CFI certificate, you can be a CFI for Sierra, they don't care where you did your training. I don't know if an f visa would work or not though. The only thing is, the university is partnered with the Livermore campus, and all you have read in this thread is about the Atwater campus. We're really two different flight schools who operate seperately, but share a name and a CEO.

Hey man...They arent affiliated with any specific University any more than any FBO-Flight school.

What they are asking is a workAuthorization provided by the F Visa after the completion of the first academic Year.

You could be at Riddle or wherever...after the first academic year succesfull completion you are eligible to apply for a optional practical training work permit that will allow you to work on a field relative to your studies.

You apply through your University.Note that your F Visa studies should be aviation related and you can legally work as a flight instructor which can be considered practical aviation training and relate it to your university course.

Keep also in mind that Online courses at Riddle cannot be credited torwards an academic year for a work authorization,You have to be in the Country and be a full time student at the University.

Sierra provides no help for that whatsoever. you are on your own.

An excerpt of a Sierra Academy ad from a job site:

A great attitude and sense of humor.

Just thought it was funny they put "sense of humor" in there. Hey, at least they're being honest!

Personally, I think they should have replaced "great attitude" with "can kegstand effectively." ;)

Flyguy, I just got a call from Skywest. I'll be joining the fam on September 10.

Upgrade times at Horizon did you in? SkyWest is a great company, you'll like it here. But you do know you're taking a paycut right?

Hell yeah! Beat 17 seconds!
Haha, yeah I remember the night you did 17 seconds. I don't remember much about the next morning though. That record still stood when I left. Hey Boston, has anyone broken it yet?

I remember French falling backwards out of an empty trashcan.

i think it was jason... somebody forgot to hold his leg up...*cough*todd*cough*

Oh, I was referring to an empty trashcan outside Jeskoe's door, not the kegstand can inside under the disco ball. That one inside was definitely full with beer and ice.

Ok, boston is back. Ok for the record, nick is still the drunk master. Jessy, eric and myself still could not out drink him under the table in Vegas. Only sober, sob, sad story to follow if anyone want to here. Keggers here have got more fun here, case in point? Slip and slides and wading pools. And for going away parties (controller's) he bought the keg, great guy, raise your glass to Carlton. But a ####storm is coming, and I WILL let everyone know what happens (I might be outta a job soon). Flyguy call me I need to fill you in on what happened.

P.S. Check this out, in 16 days I have over 80 hrs of multi, Express next week here I come.

That was one of the funniest things I have witnessed, honestly, I remeber that as well as anything. But the best might have been the student Moore, his first night there, and yet out partying. And our new chief having a cow that night about it. Good times.
