CFI-RW?

Howdy,

So trying to decide on a career path. I really would like to fly helos, and think it would be great to fly SAR. Right now all I have is my commercial single and multi engine fixed wing. I have done a couple of intro flights and was hooked! If you have seen a couple of my other post I have thought about guard/reserves but so far no luck. Any comments on going all the way and getting CFI-RW? From what I researched its quite a bill to get just private much less all the way to CFI. Also, flight instruction doesn't really pay the bill all the time, and trying to pay off school still doesn't help.

I did all the ratings thru CFII helicopter. I had fw se and me ratings before. You can do add-ons, and it will help a little with the cost, but to instruct in Robinsons you need 200hrs rw anyway. Being the majority of places use the Robinsons, doing the add ons will not do much in the way of helping you get a job faster I wouldn't think. I went to a school in Tn that has a full time program and offers a CFI job upon completion. Total cost was around 50k-ish. PM me if you want more details.
