CFI job in Alaska

Does anyone who is flying/living up in Alaska right now know if they are still hiring instructors for the summer? -Thanks

I walked my resume in to the Chief pilot at UAA about a week ago. They had just lost two instructors the day I walked in and he will be hiring soon. They fly 172s a 172 rg and 3 diamond DA20-C1. They also have a Frasca 142 and a full motion caravan sim. Seemed like it would be a nice environment to instruct in. I also tried Take flight alaska in December when they were in need of instructors, I have a friend there that gave me a good recommendation but my lack of 172 time precluded me from employement.

You gotta be KIDDING me!!! Why? Lack of time in one primary trainer or another shouldn't disqualify anyone getting a job. I'm quite confident that you wouldn't have any trouble learning a 172 in, oh, about an hour...and I don't even know you.

Reminds me of the first place I instructed. Grouchy old jerk of an owner acted like his T210 was the space shuttle, and the 182RG was only slightly below that. I'm all for thorough checkouts, but this guy was just over the top to the point of being amusing.

I absolutley agree but, I was told that the stall characteristics of a 172 or a 152 are so much different from the planes I have flown DA20-C1 Katana and the piper family of PA-28s, and that I needed to get time instructing in a 172. I have a friend who offered his T210 for the purpose of building some Cessna time and I was still told it had to be a 172. So I went out and practice stalls for an hour in a coworkers 172. Seemed pretty damn similar to me and I have been told that they recover from spins quite easily. All told I'm over it. I went flying with my friend up there and we flew all around Denali. Beautiful place that I can't wait to get back to.

If you can safely recover a Katana, Piper, or any other trainer from a stall, the 172 is really no different. Probably EASIER than the others.

Blows the mind you would be excluded for it...

Glad you are over it...

Hi

I currently go to school in of all places Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, Florida. I will be looking to get my CFI and CFII certificates this summer. It is probably a very stupid question, but I will ask it anyway. Are they any people who received their flight training in Florida and are flight instructing in Alaska
