CFI/ CFII/ MEI jobless!

Was working for ATP but they let me go because I requested a STOP & GO at KCRG in the PA-44, again all I did was request one due to another Instructor requesting one and being allowed to do it! The owner is very shady, we were repremanded when it occured. I was about a week into being standardized and instructing when I got repremanded and then was allowed to continue working for about a month. Signed off a Private and a CFII while I was working.
Got a call a week ago telling me that they were going to let me and the other instructor go because the owner found out about it!

Was not even a written rule about doing Stop and Go's, now they have made it in writing that no stop and go's are allowed on a runway less that 8000'.
Its all good though, but now I am in the pool of jobless instructors

Thanks for all of your help guys and keep me posted on any pilot jobs around

HOLY CRAP,
And I thought UND was the place of insane policies. Honestly though, maybe that rule isnt too far from the threshold for UND. We are currently allowed to do stop and goes in the seminole here any runway length. It's up to the pilots to determine if enough distance remains. But since the pilot's decision making skills are being slowy taken away by MODS, the SOF, and other policy makers, that rule could soon be a reality.

ATP had that policy at KCRG about two years ago, it was no secret. Instead of doing that Craig the OP probably should have used Cecil.

Everyone drops the ball every now and then so I hope you have some good luck finding a new job.

Could this also be for insurance reasons? I don't know if the insurance companies have their tentacles that deep into the school's SOP... just pure speculation.

Then again, we didn't do them at KTMB on the 5000ft runway either. Taxi back every time. What if your engine failed at Vr or just as you were lifting off? The Seminole certainly isn't known for its single engine rate of climb...

Either way its still BS that they fired you without a verbal warning the first time...

Again I was a week into being standerdized (new guy on the block) and I had heard one of my fellow instructors request one and actually saw him perform one. (I was still entering the pattern).
{I agree that doing a Stop N Go on a 4000' runway in a twin with a student landing is not a good idea but geeeeeez i was still a newbie and I admit that it was a stupid request.} When I stopped (landed on the numbers and had Accelerate Stop distance left) I requested to do the same from the controller and he instructed me that ATP didn't allow them. ( when does the controller work for ATP) I then taxied back for another pattern without incidence.
When I Shutdown and wnt inside school I was verbally warned by an examiner there named Ernie Strange.(not the nicest guy) He verbally tore in to me and the other instructor, but said thats as far as it would go. I guess he held it in his back pocket until he had a gathering with the owner a month and a half later.

All was fine, was working my butt off for about a month and a half, then got a phone call saying that the Owner had found out about the "request" and said both me and the other instructor needed to be out by the day.

Now as far as being warned, we were, then we fired for the incident a month and a half later! I have no hard feelings just wish that I had never requested a Stop n Go!:(

Thats the whole truth Roger Cheechako!

There's a certain network of people that band together to sell snake oil during every upturn and downturn. Trust me.

Crackin' that glass case is difficult.

rant over

A lot of instructors burn out teaching the internationals so spots open up.

You can sure say that again and gee I wonder why that is.
You teach them correctly about a subject and ask about it again a week later and they say um sir, i don't remember. How does a pre private pilot applicant still not know how to use trim? or explain why we turn on the fuel pump in case of an engine failure.... :banghead:
Yes every student pilot needs their hand to be held at times but not through the entire course my god. Its frustrating especially when you got them training on flight instruements or multi engine and the instructor still has to explain why are spins bad to the student or help them communicate on the radio.
