Cessna to Outsource Jet Manufacturing to China

Does anyone actually know that they're outsourcing or is this just Internet rage? Cuz this seems more like what they did with Reims Aviation to me.

Cessna already has the Skycatcher (AKA Cessna 162) mostly built in China but assembled in Wichita.

These 2 agreements are essentially agree to negotiate deals. Not necessarily faits accompli. But probably not great news.

Could even be a pre-negotations w/ unions ploy.

I hope my beloved beech doesn't follow suit.

I'd be more worried about how much longer your beloved Beech will be around to MAKE planes. If they keep reincarnating crappy biz jets, taking 14 years to certify new ones, and offering piss poor customer "service", they won't last.

If they go tits up, I'm going build model 17R Staggerwing's via STC like Classic Waco does with YMF's. This is the fixed gear Stag with a 440hp Wright. I'll swap out the Wright for a P&W R985 because small Wrights are expensive and more rare - but it will be an ass-kicker. I'm actually hoping for this.

Cessna is now going to be synonymous to Chinese-made import junk. :)

While a little off topic, isn't it odd that everybody's (and not calling anybody in particular, but my moms, grandma's, aunts, friends moms) fine china is made in china as well?

Now how fine it is, is debatable but....just an odd thought

Im not sure if this is just a joint venture to build China bought jets or a prelude to all jet manufacturing heading out of the U.S.

So...your thread title says, "Cessna to outsource...", then in the body you say you don't know what it is, neither option of which is "outsourcing".

Whatever this is...let's just hope for Beech's demise so I can start building these. I promise I won't outsource them to China. Pinky-promise in fact. Coming soon, to a hanger near you, the ClassicStag17R:
