Cessna CE - 525 Type Rating

Christmas was last month. No CFI? Probly harder than you thought it was.

I wonder if the SIC will help you get a CFI job.....uh oh

Mav, congrats on the Encore+ training. It is really an awesome CE500 series Citation. I dont have a ton of time in the + maybe 30 or so hours, but its a good plane.

The most difficult thing about the + for me was learning the ProLine21 series avionics. I mean, its pretty straightforward but after 500 hours in the Primus 1000 series its a different animal.

Are you going to be taking an sort of check at the end of the training or just the training minus the check?

How did you end up at Flight Safety? How much did that end up costing you? Where are you going to school?

But congrads on all of that! BTW, on your buddy who is flying with the SIC type . . . did he get the gig "because" he had the SIC or because he knew someone. And because he was a cool guy to go on long trips with?

Ive found that in corporate avaition, it is all about who you know . . . and what kind of person you are. I got my first gig flying multiengine turbo prop with out a multi engine riating. . . (upon acceptance of my enployment I had to get my rating though).

The key to it, is just be a cool guy, and dont be a douch bag, or a collegant know it all. . (not that you are)
Good luck, post, and let us know how it is going!

Thankss!
I got the chance to come down here through a scholarship. As I funderstand, I wont be taking a checkride, but I will be the sic for my sim partners type ride. The systems test went well, and we have been in the sim this week. the sim partners company encore is down here as well, and I was lucky and got to log 1.5 actual and a landing this morning. It really is a remarkable airplane, and has been a great experience.

Jerry, thanks for the advice, I def know I don't know it all and try to ask as many questions and soak up as much info as possible. I did have a question about getting the sic type. From what I was told, after I do the training, all I needed was a landing to get the type on the certificate. Is that right? If so, can I use my landing from this morning and just have the pic sign it off? Neither of us were quite sure, so I figured I would ask you guys.

Good on ya. Maybe I'll bump into you. I'm the new SIC intern here in Wichita and I'm currently sitting through 750 initial.

Sweet! Ill be over in the south building today through monday from 1 to 630. If you would like to get lunch one of these next few days let me know and hopefully we can work something out.

Sounds good. On breaks I sometimes shoot over to the instructor room to check my email in the south building, so maybe I'll see ya then.

Trent, congrats on CE750 initial my man.

Its a good system to learn.

My advice, pay attention to everyone, listen, and work every sim session as if you are in a job interview.

Good luck!

Hey Craig,

Thanks a lot! I kind of lucked out with being put in the 650/750 program instead of the XLS...I think. Right now, my focus is getting through the systems on this plane.

I will definitely take your advice and carry it with me. I appreciate!

Awesome, we have an FO here at LJ that worked as an intern on the 650/750 series. Our 650 guys train at ICT on the VII, so if you ever see some of them say hi.

I definitely will. Infact, I think I may have met him? I met someone who got hired by LJ and I got to observe one of his practice sessions for an upcoming check ride. I mentioned I sort of knew you and he said he know's ya...FYI

Hey, watch it! The XL is as sexy as Eva Longoria.

Thankss!

Kyle, read FAR 61.55 (e). It tells you how to do it. If you two are really stumped, call me and I can explain it to you.
Also, congrats on getting to ride in the Encore!

lol, Bringing the Eva card out, huh. I got to "fly" the XLS sim the other day and I have to say, it felt like a fun airplane to fly. It was like Eva was right there with me rubbing my shoulders.

Craig, off the top of my head, I don't remember his name.

Hey andrew, I ended up asking alan and he found out for me yesterday. I just have to get a hold of the cessna guy I flew with and get his sign off and then fsi is going to help me get the paperwork and what not so I can run next door to the faa office tuesday and head home with a new temp. Cert! Ill give you a call on my way home and let you know how all the training has gone. Thanks for the tips on what to study for the systems test, it went great! Hope all is well and ill talk to ya soon!

Are you sure about that? I am friends with a kid in Texas about my age, who is flying contract flights on the Citation. He has just over 400 hours. By the spring/summer time I will already have had 50 - 100 hours of instruction time because I will be doing some instructing once I get my CFI's here soon. Money isn't an option, I have that covered, along with the type I'll get high performance and high altitude endorsements.

NEVER, every pay for a type rating out of your own pocket. Many people on this forum have multiple type ratings including me, and we have worked very hard and sacrificed even more to get where we are today. You should let an employer pay for your type rating, and a company that won't pay for one is the one you don't want to work for.

Pay your dues like everyone else.
