Caution, another rant.

I think 12 dollars is pretty cheap when you weigh it against the cost of 2 airplanes and lawsuits and whatnot.

:yeahthat:

Just to second (actually third) that...

Who knows if you having the light on helped someone see and avoid your plane that they otherwise wouldn't have with it off.

I'm a big fan of Operation Lights On. I guess it was engrained into me when I was doing my private in a Diamond Katana at an airport that had a lot of Katana's. You can't see those things unless they are banking or the lights are on.

Good job in my opinion, keep it up!

What grinds my gears is that this seems so trivial. Mr. bossman is the sameway about landing with flaps..."don't let me catch you landing with flaps..."

Next time I am going to land full flaps and every light turned on, with a loud speaker rigged up playing Queen, "We are the champians of the world!":rawk:

Ah yes, venting has helped :) Now I have a lot of crap to get done before I get on the road tomorrow night.

And what praytell is his rationale for that?

So he whines about $12 for a light, but go ahead and land as FAST as possible to wear down the tires and brakes...? They're cheap!

:rotfl:

Who said anything about being allowed to use brakes? They're not there for his use......

;)

Seriously, I am not trying to be a one of "those" guys flaming someone, but there is that threshold when your brain flashes the ERROR message because the calculation just did not compute.

This may just be me, but we keep our taxi/recognition lights on at all times below FL180 when the plane is in motion. That includes taxi and flight. The landing lights go on when cleared for takeoff or cleared to land.

If we've got a 150 mile flight at 16,000', the lights stay on the whole time. Lights are cheap compared to other stuff.

Not too often in 10 and clear , but if they are headed in your direction while scanning, you will ALWAYS see that light.

Fair enough. I don't know that I've ever seen a plane solely on the fact that I saw the light. But, I still leave at least the taxi light on when I'm close to the airport or in a congested practice area.

Seriously, where in Vegas is this place? I can see the knit-picking in regards to the landing lights, but demanding that an employee and PIC not use flaps during landing is reckless and ignorant. Really, what kind of guy is that cheap? Ide report the dbag for obstructing and compromising your decisions to operate the aircraft safely.

I should have specifically stated I had the taxi light on, which I did.

Are they not the same model bulb?

Tell him you are doing it for noise abatement. Because the sound of two Cessna's hitting at 100 knots can be deafening.

Interview Tuesday. I am looking...can't tell Mr. Bossman I am going out of town for an interview otherwise I would be with out a job...So I am going to "see a girl" which is true, but I omit the other detail.

What ever you do, don't post the above on the internet!

Ha ha, too late :)

Low pay, okay, I don't like it, but you figure out how to deal it, "paying your dues." But low pay and a dump truck full of crap for "trying to do the right thing" and fly the airplane in the safest manner I know how, and accomplish the mission...I need to find something else.
