Caution, another rant.

No, two lamps, both in the left wing.

What I'm saying is they are the same model bulb. $12 each, or should I say $24 because when one goes out I always change the other one too. Had an annual once where they changed just one. Later that week the other one went.

Ah yes, closer examination of what you actually wrote would solve mis-communication, hey it is 5 something AM and pre-coffee :)

I think they are the same model bulb, yes; they are mounted with the filliment vertical.

Now I has coffee, all is good.

I had a boss explain that he'd once been delayed with a uneven flap retraction after landing- a loooooonnng time ago.
If that is Hawks' boss's rationale, then Hawks should tell him to quit skimping on maintenance. The flap setup in a 206 is not exactly rocket science and as long as you're actually checking stuff at the annual/100 hour (not pencil-whipping) should give you years and years of trouble-free service.

Sounds like a well know operator in Cleveland. Brakes went bad on a 172, so they sent out a mechanic to replace 1 BRAKE PAD! Also he refuses to cycle the prop three times (man pressure, oil pressure, RPM) because it wastes fuel.

I love cheapskate operators.

I heard a story at a past employer of why one should not use automotive alternators on airplanes. They apparently don't last very long.

It's probably been said already but tell him to screw off, you're the one calling the shots up there. Having a landing light makes a HUGE difference, even in the daytime, in being able to spot traffic. I was able to see a 172 from about 8 miles out yesterday on the upwind because they had their landing light on. I usually turn mine on anytime I'm getting near an airport or a congested area, or sometimes if I get a traffic advisory for someone that's coming my direction. To hell with their 12 dollar bulb, it's a lot cheaper than a 130,000 dollar airplane and a lawsuit.
