Cancelled 2/3 of interviews.

You remember the place. Central and Southern. NE corner when I lived in Da Hood (late 70's)

"Oh my God, is that our plane? Are you serious?"
"Was this thing built in like World War II?!"
"Are you old enough to be a pilot?"
etc.

I say "WHEE!" a lot...
Had someone say essentially that in my first day alone in the chieftain...I just had to shake my head and wonder what they'd have said hopping into the Big Six.

I flew 207's at Grand Canyon and T Props in NE. So yeah, I've heard a few good ones.

I dunno where the SJS, grab ankle and like it Rookie talk is coming from though.

Now the phone call about how they do everything last minute because people cancel on them. Sorry, I have a business to run and need concrete plans no less than 2 weeks out. I explained that in an email already.

Convo ended when I was told " interview or don't, it doesn't matter." LMAO Yeah, I'm going to pass. I'm not going to be a good fit for your company. Consider that bridge burned.

Well, I can't say I blame you. There was only one regional I considered, due to their bases and their reputation of acting like a professional company by respecting employees. I wouldn't put up with that BS either quite honestly.

Well, let us know if you find that unicorn among the herd of mules.

I'm not new. I've been to the puppet show and seen the strings but TSA is a complete mess and I'm not going to waste my time and money on a hotel room for a practice interview at a place I'll never work AND it be a friggin hassle just to have PRIA paperwork emailed and feel like things were set.

I read gouge of people showing up for interviews there and people not expecting them, plus training complaints on those gouge sites. It does not paint a picture of a place I want to go.

I don't mind getting effed but kiss me first.

Props to you for having some respect for yourself, which I'm hoping will eventually become a positive trend among pilots. I was literally just lectured on APC about how I should take the first job at the very first place I can get my foot in the door and not consider the other options, even if my peers warned me against going to such a place.

Well I burned that bridge. I'm not some kid with $80K in loans, no other skills, and gotta fly the first place that will let me.

Sure they all suck but they don't suck equally. I'll take my suckage a little more organized and with less attitude.

Absolutely. There's actually a lot of variation among the regionals in that regard.

I would recommend at least interviewing at these companies before torching your bridges. The efficiency of the HR department doesn't necessarily speak about the rest of the company.

This is why I will be making flight instructing a career (When I pass my CFI ride) with the occasional charter flight. Good luck to everyone trying out the Regionals!
That's pretty shortsighted, if you ask me. In the long term, the guys going off to the regionals will well outpace any career CFI in terms of career earnings.

I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do.

The point is that I was surprised to get offered ANY interviews. After initially scheduling 3, I reevaluated and decided that Commutair was an impossibility so I chose not to waste their time and resources.

I had planned on interviewing with TSA as they were the first to show interest. However after 6 weeks of phone tag and emails I still had no evidence that a solid plan was in place. Reading the gouge I also found that some people scheduled interviews then got no travel info. They then travelled on their own dime only to show up and TSA folks act surprised and then scramble to get them done. I wasn't going to allow that to happen. In fact I made this clear in a couple emails that I run a business and need a concrete plan in place. As the date approached I inquired and got no response. When I emailed and explained that I couldn't commit now because the arrangements were not in place and I still had not even received the before promised PRIA paperwork, that was met with a phone call in which I again explained I needed a plan or I was cancelling. The HR person then had a chance in tone and said they do everything last minute and "you can interview or not! It doesn't matter to me!"

With that I told them I was going to pass and thanks for their time. At no time was I ever unpleasant or unprofessional.

In contrast both other carriers I scheduled with were pleasant and had a plan in place within 30 mins of talking to them.

That is my decision to make and I'm not one bit sorry about it.
