A large percentage of our line check airman are Australian. I believe the company has been dangling green card sponsorship as a carrot to get our captains to stay.
True. And it's also true that almost universally, it's a heck of lot easier for a foreigner to get an FAA ticket than it is for an American to get a foreign ticket. That's why I'm glad we haven't gotten into the E-3 game at my shop.
When you start having a growing population of pilots whose legality hinges on employer sponsorship, decisions start getting made differently.
yeah agreed...That's why I'm glad we haven't gotten into the E-3 game at my shop.

I get it. I'm just saying that if work visa laws were as they should be (in other words, there were none) we, in aviation, would still have a huge imbalance in the free movement of labor simply as a function of conversion inequalities. The challenge isn't the conversion, the challenge is "the legal right to work in the United States" and "unlimited entries/exits without restriction".
yeah agreed...
my wife does a lot of hiring for her analyst team, when they filter for just Masters degree in Analytics or Statistics ....90% are non citizens of a Middle East or Far East descent who 50% of the time require visa sponsorship to stay in the states post graduation. It costs her company about 20K a pop. with no guarantee that they stay for longer than a year....
Yeah but those fancy PHDs keep telling me that if I wanna live in my suburb with a grass lawn in Arizona and drive my F150 45 minutes to work every day it’s gonna melt the ice caps. AS IF I CARE ABOUT THAT WOKE CRAPI think it speaks to a much broader conversation about the future of the country. We've both made higher education hyper-expensive and also convinced ourselves that it's some sort of elitist indoctrination zone. However, we still need Masters and PhD's to remain relevant on the world stage. But other westernized nations are still cranking out educated people with reckless abandon. Deep thoughts…![]()

My fo right now is excited about starfield. I don’t have time for another video game and it’s not going to get much better until probably February, but I’m temptedI'm just feeling kind of studly after 86'ing a pirate with a laser drill in Starfield at 0230 this morning.
