so the challenger has auto spoilers? squat switch or wheel run up?
Ground spoilers don't move the spoiler lever.so I take it a balked landing would have a memory item to slam that lever back down?
Any good discussions to have on the merits and drawbacks of each?

Gee @TFaudree_ERAU you seem to know a whole lot about this subject. Glad to have that resource on JC, then again my wife is also pretty familiar with the system as well thanks to your "tutelage".The gotcha in a Challenger is when one of the prox switches or sensors fails (squat switches in simple terms). The airplane will always think it's on the ground. Symptoms include the gear safety latch failing to disengage, deployment of ground spoilers when thrust levers are moved to idle, and deployment of ground spoilers in conjunction with application of flight spoilers.
Aside from that, and bouncing like an over inflated basketball as in this case, they work pretty well.

They SHOULD stow as soon as the thrust levers are advanced.
They auto-deploy. They also auto-retract if the reversers are stowed. And you can't advance the thrust levers with the reversers deployed. There is a lock.so I take it a balked landing would have a memory item to slam that lever back down?

I was just adding a point to your discussion. The whole system runs off a lot of the same indications. When did thrust reversers come into the mix?
And, in the 601, they don't auto-retract when the reversers stow.
