To use the cat analogy...
Sometimes people are running up the slide like that cat, and realize if they keep running they'll probably reach the top. Maybe they even did reach the top. However, while on the slide, they started to realize that they don't like slides very much. So rather than keep at, they decide to go play on the swings instead.
I think that's what Bigey is doing, among others. Just finding a ride that they'll enjoy more, where they feel their persistance is more worthwhile. It's not that slides are bad, or not fun. It's just the fact the swings or monkey bars are more exciting for them.
This is an aviation careers website. But in many ways, it is more. It's a group of individuals who have become friends, and will push one another to achieve their dreams, whatever they may be. So whatever ride excites you, I encourage you to be persistent with it, so you can achieve greatness.
However, I also say this... Enjoy the ride. Enjoy those who are on the ride with you. You might reach money in aviation, but ask yourself if money is what will truly make you happy.

Well I just wanted to chime in on my own thread here since it seems to have started some heated debate about persistence and the word usage.
So if it helps set the record straight, I dont have the persistence to make it in aviation. It's the plain and simple. If I did, I wouldnt be leaving the field!
Now, just because I dont have the persistence, doesnt mean I'm a failure. It means that my priorities have changed in life, and I'm QUITTING (yes, QUITTING) this phase of my life. I now am trying to be PERSISTENT in the catering and restaurant field. In such a short time in comparison to aviation, I am actually sucessful. I make more money than what the costs are. I'm in the green, so have it. Hence, why I feel that to pass this opportunity to continue to be in the green and enjoy other things in life, would be not worthy.
So call it whatever everyone wants, but I guess i'm good at making money in the restaurant and food industry than I am in the aviation field. Hopefully everything continues well, and I can continue to have aviation as a hobby and not as a profession!

Just make sure it's a jet.... I want to fly a jet. I am an aviation failure, I am just a lowly T-Prop pilot....maybe...someday...if I just keep trying...I might get to fly a jet!

Once you guys get over the initial bloom of your romance, how about getting off your asses and starting a SEAT program so I can live my dream. Just a thought.
