CAL negotiates CPA with Skywest, will let XJT CPA expire

Nah, just sitting here in a Las Vegas Starbucks enjoying a cup of java getting hassled by real estate brokers. It's weird.

board some RJ's not based in ATL :)

I was beginning to think they're all based in ATL. You can't taxi 10 feet here without almost hitting one of the damned things. They're everywhere!

And have you been on a 737 with a deferred APU in the summer? I used to commute on one out of houston and if the APU was dead it was a sauna in the cabin until we took off.

Trust me, no comparison to an inop APU on a 50-seat RJ. At least the 737 PACKs will blow a tiny bit of semi-cool air out of the gaspers. The RJ doesn't produce any a/c unless you rev engines up to about 50% N1. Hence why I always refused airplanes with inop APUs if it was warmer than about 80 degrees outside.

Like PCL said, the scope issue with Pinnacle has already been through arbitration. The ruling was "Sorry, guys. You acted as a single employer. The scope holds, and you have to meet to discuss fences and a probable seniority list integration." Which also kills any plans Pinnacle Corp might have had about whipsawing Colgan against us, which was a valid concern. Once they finally get a court order to abide by the aribrator's ruling (Holdings is INSISITING it doesn't apply to them as of right now), they won't be able to, say, replace CRJs with Q400s and put the Qs over at Colgan. The scope language is very similar to XJT's. Ours says ANY planes flown by Pinnacle Airlines or a company in possession of Pinnacle Airlines have to be flown by pilots on the Pinnacle Airlines seniority list. XJT's appears to be a little more lax. It's only planes with 19+ seats, but you can bet that ALPA would use our aribration ruling as an example of precedence.

XJT DOES have another choice. They can send CAL another offer, possibly underbidding Skywest and secure the flying. This isn't over. Not by a long shot.

Right!

You can help your mgmnt by being the most cost conservative, best attitude willing to bend (not break) in the wind.

This is what I have been saying. Continental is just trying to get the best price for the product they want. I don't think anyone at mainline CAL could give 2 shats about who does the flying. All they care about is how much they are spending. If XJet can put their egos aside and come back with a competitive counter offer I think they may still be in the game.

LK wants to break us down. We could offer to fly for free and we'd still get the same treatment. His pilots are in contract negotiations and it leaves a bitter taste in his mouth when they are asking for things from our contract. He needs to be able to show them that a good contract means failure.

Im not sure I know who is asking for stuff in your contact.

The work rules language in the XJT pilot contract is 10 times better than the CAL contract.

The CAL guys want parts of the XJT contract.

Ah, the return of Brand X!

I've been reading the posts and the career path and the current airplane and then once it changed to this avatar I was just dying to remember what that username was, that's it! I remember now. I can't possibly be the only one; the posts are exactly the same.

Basically XJT has no choice in this matter, they can say no and have cal cancel their contract and liquidate or they can say yes and keep things status quo with maybe only a few furloughs as long as they remove the merger languge. If they say no, skywest gets the flying just a few years later, if they say yes skywest gets flying but is done by xjt pilots and jerry gets his cal flying 2 years earlier. Either way Jerry is getting his cal flying one way or another. If I were xjt I would take this offer seriously and not squander this chance at saving your "troubled" airline.

I'm not sure if it is that cut and dry. In the letter that has been linked in this thread, Continental mentions that if XJT does not agree to lower rates than more airplanes could be taken out. If XJT does lower the rates, the letter does not say that the flying will go to SKW automatically.

Actually. . .ASA has jetbridges for a majority of our gates, and will have an all jet bridge layout by the end of Summer.

So, no more walking on the ramp . . . and the potential security risk that is.
