BKL is my aviation home. Last night at 11 pm when I went took the dog out it was freezing rain and I thought to myself thank God I'm not flying in this. The ice was sticking to my mailbox. Then I wake up to this story.

CNN)A small plane believed to have crashed in Lake Erie is registered to a beverage company executive and is based at Ohio State University Airport, the airport's director told CNN Friday.

The executive's father, John W. Fleming, told the Columbus Dispatch that his son, John T. Fleming, was at the controls of the Cessna that went missing Thursday night after the pilot, his family and friends attended a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game.
"The airplane is based at our airport, it left from the airport and it did not come home last night," said Doug Hammon, the airport's director.

When I saw this thread (C525 Missing....), I was interested in how old the plane was.
Now...WOW, it's a C525C! This is going to be interesting.....

Why do you say that? Is it notoriously bad in icing? Granted anything would be bad in +FZRA. I'm asking because I'm ignorant about most biz jets--this one in particular. Does it have boots?

I hate to speculate. I wonder if he blew through his altitude and was trying to get back and lost control. The normal clearance out of there is 350 heading and 2000 on takeoff.

Normally, someone would program that in before takeoff though. At the very least set the capture.

The Pilot received his Private Pilot's license January of 2015 and since completed his IR, ME and even rotorcraft since then. Last Third class medical was October, 2015.

I read on another site that the plane was listed for sale through late summer early fall and was registered in October. So it sounds like he was rather knew to the plane.
