C-17 down at Elmendorf!

I thought this was appropriate. RIP. I have a buddy who just started flying the C-17, I hope for his sake that if it ends up being a design or procedures thing, they get it fixed quickly and correctly :(

One of the guys I went to UPT with is in that unit. You may know him too since he was an Aero guy but a 99er, D.D. I really really hope he wasn't on that plane.

Crap, that sucks.

They usually don't release the names for 24-48 hours, because they have to notify next of kin and then the next of kin spends some time notifying other family, making travel arrangements and that kind of thing. The AF doesn't want family members to find out their loved ones died on CNN before they hear about it in person. That always made sense to me.

Still, I'll be waiting to read the names tomorrow or the next day. I know I sent several students to that unit, and I know a handful of folks in the C-17 community. I don't know if this is selfish, or what, but I hope it wasn't any one of the guys I know.
I hope it wasnt anyone you know.:(
