I didn't know this was airliners.net.I'm here at BUR with about an hour and a half to kill with my scanner before I pick up a friend and was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to hang out and watch the jets come in? That are free?
There are places that charge for such things? That are free?

I don't get it either... I was just using the term to explain that I wanted to watch the activity around the airport since I had time to kill.

I'm not really into the whole plane spotting thing, but if can cruise down to LAX. There's a small field on the north side of the airport that is directly under the approach path of 24R. And, it's right next to an In N' Out. Double victory!![]()

There are those who have a sincere appreciation of aviation and for whatever reason this is how they pursue it. Not everyone can be a pilot. Everyone has a passion in life so no need to bash it. Although I have never taken a trip for the sole purpose of aviation photography I have requested rooms in hotels which face airports. I love all things aviation! Can somebody explain this whole 'plane spotting' thing? I ran into this Scottish guy with binos in the parking lot of my office and he was copying down all the N numbers of the planes on the ramp. He was with a group of other guys and they were working as a team. I've seen them before and they travel to the US just to do this.
What is the point?
