Bored in Cruise...

Now, you finally understand why date-of-hire is so important in seniority integration.

Um, no. Not even close. DOH would have still been a massive screw job for us. Just not as bad as what we got. A fair integration is what would have been decided by an arbitrator, had we been allowed to proceed to arbitration. It probably would have been some sort of ratio'd list within each category and status, just like pretty much every other recent integration.

It should have remained ALPA's policy for all seniority integrations so that the precedent could never be broken by anyone.

DOH was never ALPA's policy on seniority integrations, because it's rarely a fair integration methodology. DOH was one of many factors that was considered in integrations under ALPA's merger policy for years, but if you read the arbitration decisions during those years, you'll find that arbitrators gave it little weight. It was eventually taken out of the policy, because it was realized that it didn't make a whole lot of sense.

Yeah, screwed. Valuejet is now Southwest. They totally got hosed.

Maybe you should wait until you've experienced a seniority raping before talking out of your ass about it.

ValuJet doesn't exist. Hasn't in a long time. AirTran does. And the AirTran pilots are among the highest paid narrowbody pilots in the country. Your attempt to make it seem as though we were some small company begging to be saved by Southwest is absurd.

I don't know if this is public info or not, and if its not, thats cool. I can't remember if it was talked about here, but was the SWA merger a wanted thing with the majority of the AirTran pilots, or was it against wishes of the majority?

No, it was definitely something that we thought was good for the company and the employees. A bigger company is always more stable and able to weather the storm that is this industry. We just expected a fair seniority integration to go along with it.
