Boeing to acquire Embraer?

Being discussed by WSJ that Boeing has been in talks w/Embraer. Clearly an answer to Airbus and Bombardier.

They often times are. The 190s in USAirway's fleet were purchased (as the launch customer) at a 30% to 50% discount.

That's most likely discount off of the list price, which is very different than a discount off the cost of manufacturing. A ~50% discount off of list price is industry standard - 50% discount off manufacturing cost would be unheard of, even in this Bombardier case.

Who said it cost $30 million to make? Only mention I see of that price came from Boeing, who said they BELIEVED it should cost that to manufacture. Bombardier never publicly said what it cost.
Delta recruiting FB page, surprised you didn't see it too

Again, WHO said it? Post an actual name. Unless it was someone from Bombardier senior management, how would anyone know their internal cost structure to manufacture something. Not saying it doesn’t cost that, maybe it does. Just want VERIFIABLE data.

To be honest I'm not sure where it came from, it might have been in the tariff complaint from Boeing.

Apparently it was accurate enough to warrant the tariff.

You Delta guys are taking personal offense with this but when the ME3 get support your company blows a gasket and creates a feature length mini series movie over it...very hypocritical.

Ehh, Commerce Dept tariffs are political in nature. Never expected anything different. The real test is if ITC upholds it. Then the appeal process. This has a long way to go. Probably past the first deliveries from Alabama, which won’t be subject to the tariff anyway, which completely invalidates the millions of dollars spent on both sides of this, not to mention the political ill will it generates.

List price on a PAX airframe is like sticker price on a car used to be. So many footnotes and fine-print clauses => meaningless.

Boeing must believe in Alternative Facts.

Much different situation here (I think). Airbus is acquiring a single aircraft program from BBD. The other commercial and business aircraft are totally unrelated to the Airbus acquisition of C Series.

This seems to be Boeing taking over Embraer in its entirety? I wonder if Boeing will carve out business jets, or if that’s a new segment it will try its hand at.

Yeah from what I’ve been reading some kind of partnership is the most likely endgame here. I don’t think he Brazilian government is too keen on a Boeing takeover, and it holds a golden share....

If the ERJs were sold for 1/3 their cost of manufacturing then Airbus would have a case.
Questions: Why do people NOT get bent when Billionaires engage elected officials to force taxpayers to pay for sports stadia? Why DO people get bent when corporations benefit from governments that support the creation of jobs around the creation of good products??

Why do people believe what they hear on Fox news? They're stupid, I guess.
