I've been the one to give the number to someone once over our company freq, and there was this puppy-dog shame in their response... "Oh....okay....roger."
...It was just the third shifter's cellphone number![]()
Actually had a Citrus B717 come out of the alley @ MSP one day and cut us off on D, after we cleared 12L. We were parking signature.
Tower told us right on D h/s 12R @ D, monitor ground xxx.xx
So AirTran apparently gets taxi clearance out of the alley as we're on D and cuts us off abruptly.
When queried about our clearance and instructions compared to those with Citrus, captain happy throws a fit. Ground admits it was a communication "glitch" between the tower and ground and apologizes. Captain happy however isn't satisfied and proceeds to tell us on his taxi to 17 that "if you have a problem with it you can call my chief pilot at xxx-xxx-xxxx.
So of course we tell ground to mark the tapes, and 3 days later they're sent to CP @ Citrus for review.
Apologies were forthcoming. We never blamed the 717 crew. ATC dropped the ball here. Captain happy got overzealous.
Moral of story: Not always a good idea to give out the number, lest you end up with egg on face.
