I called a local banner tow operator here on Long Island last summer. I was told to call by another pilot who now flies for UPS. He highly recommended the operation as safe and owned by a responsible gentleman. The UPS pilot had flown for them like 10 years ago. I had a commerical certificate, tailwheel endorsement, and about 300 hours. I was told that I would have gotten a job 2 years prior. The new insurance minimum was 500 hours, no questions asked. So I don't know if this is an industry-wide trend or just this particular operation. Currently I am working on my CFI, maybe this summer or next I can try again. Would be cool flying over Robert Moses, Jones, and Brighten Beaches one summer!
