Avoiding the Regionals...

I will assume that you were being a smart a**. But I would have to agree with the comment, why can't we all see one thing in this industry. This job is one of the most stress free and fun jobs in the world. And the reaosn we are all on each other in a way is that we all know this and want to keep the same path. So why me being happy at Mesa is a bad thing? I do not want to take your job, I want to not be bothered at all. I have done bad jobs and had bad bosses. Wheelsup, what makes me mad is the people that get all fired up over this industry, I mean they are just bringing the stress into their lives that does not need to be there. So one their days off, they have something to do.
 
Its okay Jim, never came to rile people up. Just figured a conversation should have some meaning, or it just becomes a big circle jerk.

Well, I'm a happy regional pilot! I'll probably end up staying here for the long haul. My schedules are great, I've got good seniority, and I make enough money to put a nice roof on my head and feed my wife and three kids. We live on a budget, but who doesn't these days? My wife stays home with the kids and we make it work! I'm convinced, the more money and toys you have, the more stress you have in keeping it all together. I don't have a boat to insure, an airplane to maintain, or a vacation condo to rent out. I'll never get there, and that's fine with me. Those things are not my priorities. Raising a God-fearing family and ministering to those around me are. I don't have to make a fortune to do that. It's a bonus that my bread and butter comes from a job I love to do.

It's all in your perspective. If your goal in life is to make the big bucks flying international heavy iron, then plan accordingly. Get a job to get the PIC and get on with it. Regionals are a great way to do that. There are other avenues also. . . not sure what they are.

You know, I don't usually cotton to all that bible-thumpin' Christianity stuff, but this passage really hit a chord with me; thanks for printing it SkyWChris! What struck me is how similar it is to my own favored brand of spiritual philosophy, all printed up in the Tao Te Ching. Diggeth, thou grotty wankers, the paralells:

Chap 9
Better stop short than fill to the brim.
Oversharpen the blade, and the edge will soon blunt.

Truths are truths, whether spoken by Taoist, Buddhist, Muslem, Christian, Jew. Some words speak to the soul, not to the mind, and are true in spirit for all ages.
 
What happened to my post? Anyway, for the most part, all great information...even the "bickering" gives me a better idea of what to expect if I end up going to the regionals some day. Also, the freight link somebody posted early on was helpful. SkyWChris, are you based out of Colorado Springs, or do you commute to Denver or elsewhere? As long a regional can pay for my lift ticket every year, I don't think I'd mind living in Co Springs...

P.S. - I'm a philosophy major and have been in and out of religion for a while...I'd like to join in on the discussion, but perhaps instead of diverting this thread, we can just start a new one to discuss these issues?
 
I'd highly recommend NOT starting a discussion on religion here. There's not much civil discussion, nobody plays by the rules, and it'll pretty much just start another flame war.

(I also majored in philosophy and while I love the topic, I've found many people can't discuss it with a level head)
 
I'm game too! I promise not to get shi77y with anyone, unless, of course, they start it. ;)
