Aviation movie foul ups and tech errors.....

I can't believe no one has mentioned "Air Force one" with Harrison Ford. The entire movie.....just terrible!

Along with all the errors in that movie; many were criticizing William H Macy's character of Major Caldwell when he stated in the movie that he "didn't know how to fly a plane", due to his wearing Command Pilot wings on his blues shirt. Looking at some shots though, I think he's actually wearing Master Navigator wings; which would make his claim of not knowing how to fly the plane, true.

Command wings top, Master wings below:

Not a movie, but on that show airplane repos where they have a cabin class twin with recips making turboprop sounds...

Another Airplane Repo where Kevin Lacey broke into a hangar to take a Falcon 20 only to declare it grounded because the supplemental oxygen tanks were empty. Hmmm, wonder what negotiations went on with the show that he would accept looking like a moron.

there was one a few weeks ago where the guy repo'd the airplane in the Bahamas.. when he has an electrical failure '10k ft over the atlantic'...yet when it happens the altimeter says 1,500 and you can see all the lighting of the land below it.

Since I'm currently re-binge'ing it, West Wing has a few. In "Angel Maintenance" they say that due to winds they have to change to Runway 37.
In "25" they reference emergency transponder codes, they get 7500 correct for hijacking, but say 7700 is used when a radio is lost. No mention is made of 7600.

I've found it's easier to keep my blood pressure down by not watching aviation references...

Not to mention a couple times when the President gets out of the plane there are winglets in the shot.

In Predator, Arnold started a helicopter by resetting the main generator!

That's because he's Ahnold, man. He can do anything.

I don't know if it's already been said, but I hate, hate, hate. When you're watchign a movie. And they show say a 767 as the plane that the characters are flying on. Then later they show stock footage of a 747, landing or something. Hate it...

Let me get this straight. You'll watch a movie where some dude takes out ten guys armed with weapons when he's unarmed, and then he'll fight the evil leader to the death instead of just shooting him and not say a word about that.

But damn it, use a 767 for the cabin and then use a 747 stock landing, and that's just too damn far.

Pretty much got it?
