Aviation in 5 years

Could someone please give me their opinion on how the job outlook looks for pilots in 5 years?

Will the possibility of getting on with a regional with under 1,000 hours still be there?

Thank you for your help.:)

In the next five years my airline will hire close to 1000 pilots accounting for both growth and attrition. My old airline will have close to 1500 retirements. Many of the other majors will experience a large number of retirements as well. Aviation in India and China will require thousands more pilots just for growth.

The big wild card is the increase in mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65. That will slow things down a bit, but not nearly as much as the pessimists think it will.

To be honest pilots should not be hired by regionals with less than about 1500 hours total time. Building time in light singles and twins builds character and is great experience. Everybody seems to be in a hurry. Slow down and enjoy the ride.
