ATP Supply and Demand - New study

OK, I read the paper. I had a multi-page critique, but I deleted it because I didn't want to be today's designated reviewer.

There are several on JC who have an educational background and/or a tenure in higher education, and I'd be interested to see what they say.

We built that business from the ground up. We were firmly lower middle class when I was growing up.
When you say "we", you mean your parents because there is very little you contributed unless your parents were putting you to work. And how much work did you do? So by all accounts, you my fried were handed a golden spoon. I grew up in a middle class family and my parents didn't have a middle a business to hand down. Assuming you don't run this business down, you will also pass it to your kids, which is how wealth is passed down. Life is good my friend.

On the aviation path thing, all the issues you have with aviation apart from stability are the reasons are really want to get in with both feet. I am also looking to open a consulting businesses, so the ability to jump seat will help significantly. Unlike you, I am going into this as a means to an end and not the end itself. Foe some it will be the end. I don't see it as that.

One last thing, you mentioned that you don't have to like what you do for a living. Well, that is true but then how much fun is life if every Sunday night is a dreaded experience while you watch Football and thinking about a work you are not passionate about. I don't see things ending well with that type of setup. I will not advice anyone to go down life living with this mantra. If you can do something to change the status quo and get into an industry you enjoy, you will increase your lifespan by a whole lot. I don't have anything scientific to back this up but it is only reasonable to assume life will suck with no end in sight.

At the end of the day, everyone has to live with the decisions they make. Do what works for you.

You know not of what you speak, so I suggest piping down.

There is a big difference between dread and indifference and another spectrum between indifference and passion. I argue that it's absurd to demand passion from your job, but good luck in finding it.
