ATP Phone interview

Has any done this? I was always curious to know what they ask. I understand that your are interviewed via phone if you have your PPL and want to go for the acpp.
Thanks gtlyon

Yeah I just did it. You have to go to a location and do an interview with an instructor and fly the sim. They give you a test on all of the PPL stuff that you forget, Light signals from tower, commercial medical stuff, the other stuff you should know like weather, how much gas your plane holds, color of fuel, etc. Then James will call you and ask you about P-factor, spiraling slipstream, accelerated slipstream, torque, electrical and fuel system on your plane, and emergency procedures on your current plane.
If I think of anything else I'll write it later. They just want to make sure you are trainable and not a • bag to be around. No worries!

I called ATP, and told them I wanted to start at a certain date, they said it was open, so I drove a thousand miles and started training, No interview, no sim ride, no tour, probably stupid of me, but everything turned out ok.

I bet you could answer every question wrong in that interview and they will still accept you.

Did you start with the Private? I only ask because there is no interview for the ACPP if you are doing the PPL as well.

Yes... after you went home... studied up... and came back 3 months later or so and re-did the interview. Understanding that there are some multi questions on the test and that some guys have never stepped foot near a multi prior to that day... usually if the test score came in at under 50%, then that would cause a red-flag and there would be some more questions on the phone interview prior to accepting them into the program.

Then they throw you out head first. Seriously, I don't know what it would take to mess up an ATP interview.
Attitude, trainability, logbook issues, and knowledge... pure and simple.

Yes, you are about to pay a significant amount of money to come and train... but you will also be flying in $400,000 aircraft on a daily basis and they need to ensure that you will be a good candidate.

I started on the career program, did my private at a FBO in WY,, and never had any interview or sim ride

Maybe it was just PHX then, But the Interviews I seen was like "Hi how are you? first we will try out our sim, lets see if we can get this thing in a spin... now lets add 100 kts of wind and land this thing like a Helicopter.."

I seen the written test, isn't much to it, one guy I seen come in and got less then a 50% and they still let him in. (they kicked him out later though)

Wow! The test is pretty much like a pre-solo test at any FBO. What did they kick him out for?

Thank you for all the responses! I have my PPL and I am seriously considering going there for the rest of my training.

Captain Bob--I must say(not to offend others) you have a great attitude and Ive read many of your posts.I believe you are an asset to the pilot community! I thank you for all your informative posts.

I have huge dreams of becoming an airline pilot. There are many discouraging obstacles out there for becoming an airline pilot.Although Im a bit late in starting(33 yrs old), your posts( and posts from others) have helped keep my dream alive and I truly appreciate it! If we ever meet, drinks are on me-)

Thanks,
GTlyon

What if your not a • bag, and fudge up the light guns and wx?

Ahh, I don't know because I got in. I'm thinking if you even do OK they are going to accept you and your money. I only missed two on the written portion and if the instructor is cool he will brief you on the stuff that you probably don't know.:) Like before you start taking it he might say that you know this multi procedure is this, this, and that right?????;) Dude if you are worried about it just study your private pilot written stuff and you will be over prepared.
