I think that the ATP CRJ program is waaaay overpriced. Especially since they charge ATP grads half what they charge the general public. You might want to look at Pan Am which has cheaper FMS programs and CRJ courses if thats what you want to learn. Not sure how good Pan Am's is though.
If your just looking for CRJ material go do a google search online and you'll find plenty of pilotshops that sell material(books, guides) on the CRJ to prep you. Beats paying ATP to sit in their classroom. But, hey its your money so feel free to do whatever you want.

With ATPs CRJ program, They arent selling "how to fly a CRJ". they are selling the 121 regional airline job that you very might get with the preferential interview. The 6K price tag isnt based on how much it costs them to run. Its based on what they think the starry eyed CFI will pay for it.

I want to learn as much as I can before the course so the work load will be lighter during the 2 months of airline school
I cant take off 2 months for crj school with an airline........6 K for a one week school is not a bid deal for me ,
I'm the same way. Why waste time. Time is money. I signed up after my friend got an interview then started a job with XJet within a couple weeks after finishing the program. He started about a week after his interview. He said the interview wasn't too bad and he said he felt more prepared for ground school.
But many hire alot of pilots knowing that not all will make it through.
They want you to study on your own time before you show up. There's about 40 hours worth studying each student needs to do before they show up to training. the materials are included in the cost of the program. They let you know how to study the materials, in what order to study, etc. Just like the airlines, they want you to show up prepared.
Until you get the training materials I'd study "The Turbine Pilots Manual" by Holt. That'll Help.
I completely understand that , why is everyone so anti CRJ school .......
