Atlas buys Southern Air

They're all clapped-out -400s, right? What life do they have left, if they get dumped now?

Ameristar perhaps? Everts?

I heard AMF is buying them :stir::stir::stir::stir::stir::stir:

On a side note, do you Atlas/Southern guys not get paid while waiting for IOE? Or are you on reduced salary until completion of IOE?

My buddy at Southern says that the pay is reduced while waiting for IOE at Southern. I hear most guys don't even make it to the line before they have found another job.

That's crazy. I know nothing about Southern so I had to ask. That's crazy that they find new jobs before hitting IOE. Sounds like a good place to get a free type lol.

Atlas is on training pay until month 4 or completion of OE whatever occurs first.

Hey! Ain't nothing wrong with Visalia.

Other than, well, being in the San Joaquin Valley.

And too close to Fresno.

And it's hot in the summer time.

Nevermind. :)

I've shot the cow crap smell visual into Visalia many of times. Nothing worse than opening the door to a blast of smelly heat hitting you across the face. Ahhhh good times!

I found a new job before I gave them the TBNT email after a class date.

My QOL on the E170 would have been much better. Thankfully fate played a much better role, and I fly neither the 737 or 170. :)

Yeah, the 737 over at Southern is a terrible deal, no matter how you slice it.

If I were young and lived in CVG, I might think about it. Or more correctly, I might have thought about it maybe a year ago. If you'd gotten in then, you would have had a short period of suck followed by an upgrade, 737 PIC time, and a little bit less suck.

I just had a slight physical convulsion reading that post. I might have to sue you for causing me mental distress.

I disagree.
I flew the mighty 99 for that sweet sweet MPIC time and my life as a 1st RAH FO was much better.
Not to mention a 737 type with sic time is pretty much worthless, now that Southwest isn't the big boy on the block, career wise.

Oh, I agree. I was saying that IF you had hired on a year or a year and a half ago (whenever they first stumbled out of the gate), you would have had a really horrible life for a little while, then an upgrade (I think the initial cadre were like a number of months that can be counted on one hand), and could possibly parlay that experience in to an overseas gig or something. But it was a gamble back then. Now I don't think it's even a gamble...it's just a bad deal.

Is that necessarily true? Depending on your goals, any kind of 121 experience and having good recs seems to be of equal value right now. In other words: is 2 years of SIC time in a 737 more or less worthless than 2 years of SIC time in an ERJ?

I agree that 2+ years ago PIC time was gold, but now I'm seeing guys (and girls, but that's a different angle) going to the legacies with little to no PIC time.
