Do our Southern Air brethren consider this good news? I'm no ACMI expert, but seems like Atlas is considered a much better outfit to work for than Southern based on what I read and hear.
Well said. Far too early to start guessing how it'll go. My concerns are two-fold, however:It's too early to tell if this is good or bad for anyone who wears a pilot uniform. I think it's good for Atlas in that it provides quick access to 737 and 777 fleet types which are probably growth markets in the freighter world.
I'm not yet certain if this transaction knocks Atlas pilots out of section 6 negotiations and into another arbitrated contract. I'm sure there are plenty of conspiracy theorists who will say that's exactly why the whole thing was orchestrated. The transaction potentially takes a strike, unlikely as it probably was all along, off the table just as Atlas Air Teamsters were beginning contract negotiations (many were/are not happy with the contract that resulted from the Atlas/Polar merger, which was never voted on by the pilot group, it was agreed to between the union and company with certain sections arbitrated).
1) Will Southern be merged with Atlas Air, Inc. pilots

How'd you like to be the last 737 F/O to have driven out of CVG with his middle finger extended?
No different on this side. One of the most junior guys there is a buddy of mine who completed training back in early December. He has since been waiting to go through IOE. He had to take a job at a retail store during the holidays to subsidize his income a bit until he gets a call to go fly. There's really been no sign of him getting a call anytime soon

Two of the past companies I worked for were involved in acquisitions after I left.
Here's one: http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-n...1-07/tpg-growth-acquire-charter-firm-tmc-jets
And of course AMF acquired Wiggins.
I heard they're going to integrate the seniority lists and then outsource the 737's to a regional because Atlas doesn't want to fly "those little airplanes."
They won't get dumped. There's plenty of work for the 73s to be doing from what I understand. They're all clapped-out -400s, right? What life do they have left, if they get dumped now?
Ameristar perhaps? Everts?
