ATC Networking

Hello all,

I am in the midst of the ATC hiring process (awaiting my 11/18 PEPC date) but I have received my notice via e-mail stating that I have been "chosen for further consideration for an Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) position at the Denver International Air Traffic Control Tower (DEN) in Denver Colorado. "

I am interested to find out if other folls have been selected for (or are at OKC heading for, currently are working at, etc) DEN. I have a few (err....slightly more than a few) questions and it would be interesting to get the feel of the place.

I understand this is a pretty narrow thread, but other posters can feel free to attempt to network for their selected facility if they would like.

If you can call the place and maybe get ahold of a manager, they would most likely let you go in and take a tour of the place. I was able to do that and even had a chance to talk to a couple of controllers and got some insight from some people who have been doing it for a while. :D

Yup, I did that with my facility also....
I would highly reccomend it, ended up spending a couple of hours there.

You may want to go snoop around in the "Application Process" sub forum and look around for others going to your PEPC or any other PUBNAT2 related threads (they're usually titled with PUBNAT2 or KCPEPC)

You lucky SOB, I am praying for that letter... LOL I have a couple friends there (mgmt as well). My ATC mentor was a facility manager for DEN ATCT as well. If you decide to take a tour, just know the tower is airside and they will not come get you from landside even if that is your facility you have been assigned to, so if you want to take a tour, find the cheapest (Southwest probably) one way airfare just to get you airside and go from there. You need to get things set up beforehand with tower personnel however. If you have any other questions, IM me and I will either answer them for you or try to find the answer.

I've heard some nice things about that facility actually. It's really modern and really well layed out IMHO. Security is more strict there than other airports. My uncle works there managing emergency services and he's not even allowed out on the taxiways without an FAA escort.
