ATC in Trump's crosshairs

Besides Obama sounding like a complete idiot to every military veteran, with that gaffe? Yeah, his staff did him no favors. Plain and simple. Try to understand the conept of how staff and leaders work that I've been making here, it's not very difficult.

To the point of the thread, I don't expect Trump to understand the nuances of the ATC system offhand. I do expect him to be briefed on it, and I do expect him to listen to and soak up the information he's briefed on.

Concede what? That Trump needs to listen to his staff if he isn't doing so? Otherwise he will make mistakes? That's been made clear.
Every military veteran? Or every military veteran you talk to?

The fact that our President speaks off the cuff as much as he does should make you feel a bit uneasy. Yes it was fun/funny at times during the campaign but now he's the leader of the free world. What he says, does, acts like is a reflection of our populace. As much as you and I don't care for violent protests and think it is a poor form the same is true on the other side of the spectrum. The point is he needs to do the hard work for our country not his personal interests. I believe that was a huge selling point for the "blue collar billionaire". So be it ATC, National Healthcare, Defense, etc he needs to do his homework and have coherent thoughts. He's looked less than stellar during his time in the Oval Office.

I already wrote what needs to be done with respect to the leadership/staff relationship. It's not rocket science. Either Trump will do those things, or he won't. Either his staff will, or they won't. They can help or hurt themselves as much as they like.
Well that's a very relaxed attitude coming from someone who still remembers a mis pronunciation years ago. The help or hurt themselves idea should upset you as a citizen. As I explained above his actions are a direct reflection of our populace. We aren't going to agree I guess since clearly he isn't faltering as much in your opinion as he is mine.

Ok, I haven't talked to every, single, exacting member of the USA, USAF, USN, USMC, and USCG in order to get your answer here. But yes, veterans in general were quite offended that the president couldn't seemingly be bothered to pronounce the word right. And as I said before, I even defended the president for the reasons I described before.....he may not have logically known, as that's likely not a word he uses, but his staff should've had that covered for him at some point.

I don't like his off the cuff remarks any more than I like his use of twitter. I think Trump needs to very much polish up the former, and throttle way back on the latter.

Like I said with Obama, his staff didn't help him with that gaffe. And they should've caught that. See above with regards to what I think Trump is faltering in and some areas he needs to improve his presentation. Otherwise, he's only going to open himself up to saying/doing dumb things.

@MikeD you are doing yourself no favors with what you are saying here.

My case is stated plainly and clearly. And the concept is valid......it's leadership 101 for a senior official regards who is responsible for what.

I think both Obama, Bush 43, and Bill Clinton were supportive of veterans in these terms, and worked to improve the areas cited, for OEF/OIF and Desert Storm vets, respectively. Granted Desert Storm didn't generate nearly as many vets as the current wars did, but being the first major engagement since Vietnam that brought new vets both home as well as to the VA system, overall positive attention was paid to vets and their needs by the White House.

See, if I were to have a sit down with the heads of an industry that I don't understand, I think that I would ask a couple questions and then shut the hell up and listen to what they had to say. This group probably could have been a real asset and instead it sounds like they got a lecture about all the things he's gonna do to try and "fix" the problem.

The government hiring freeze currently in place certainly isn't helping the ATC system also.

Doesn't apply to us. Although it took the FAA 2 weeks to receive guidance on who exactly who it does or doesn't effect, ATC is exempted under public safety.

I can't believe how much buck is getting passed here.

Leaders *cannot* continuously blame their employees. If Trump's aides are not giving him enough of a briefing, it's 100% on him for not hiring people who get him the information he needs. If we believe the leaks coming out of the WH, it's not the aides' fault that he can't read more than 9 bullet points at a time.

What happened to conservatives being all about personal responsibility?

*Edit...doesn't he always blather about "hiring the best people"?

If he doesn't understand the salient issues of the meeting he's about to have, he needs to take the initiative and either learn about it, have someone brief him or delay until he's ready.

He's the leader of the flipping free world, every day shouldn't be like training some one to ride a bike.

Is he going to run to his ill prepared staff, Twitter or be a leader during our next 9/11?

Its alive and well. Which is why a man in charge invited a bunch of people to his house to talk about something he doesn't know anything about. Before he tells someone that is in charge of fixing the thing that needs fixing he talked to some dudes that know something about what needs fixing more than he does. Good for him. Who cares if LAX is 7th and ATL is 1st? Petty BS. He was making light hearted banter. Referring to his pilot of his 757, he was trying to relate in an offhand moment. For all we know, when the scum, I mean press, left the room he put on his game face and got down to business and knew as much as the out of touch CEO's. We just don't know. Unless we were in that room we'll never know. No matter how many newspapers we read or how many times we visit the occupydemocrats website to get our marching orders.

You mean like maybe learning about the nuclear treaties before talking to Putin about them?

How long before his staff gets used to being un-heard and put down, and simply stops trying to advise someone who doesn't care enough about truth to listen to anyone? The voices in his head aren't going to be enough!

There's giving someone the benefit of the doubt, and then there is this.

Based on his apparent knowledge, or lack of, going into phone calls with various other world leaders, (Australia, Russia comes to mind) I'm going to say this scenario is unlikely.
