ASA to offer 24 positions to XJT Furloughs

Same here. And it was mostly VFR out there! I flew with two line holders working on their off days. One was offered 200% to fly. I didn't even know they did that. I think 24*4 might be a more realistic number... But what would I know, I just deal with the mess they create every day.

I could be wrong but that sounds a little like individual bargaining.

I don't know what you guys are whining about. I'm loving the 90+ hrs of credit reserves are making here in ATL. Extension after extension and I'm just watching the credit pile up. QOL is a lot better on your off days when you have an extra $1000+ in the bank. Im just glad to be out of that outta that IAD dungeon were you commute, don't fly, and do ready reserve 5 times a month and credit 65 hrs!

You must not have a family, or life. Look at the big picture too. The money is nice but I have a problem when our performance suffers because flights are canceled due to them not having enough pilots. This morning by 9am 2 were cancelled for that reason. There is no reason for that, especially during a slower month. Our management has said they want us to be the "go to" airline. How are we going to be that when we can't handle what we have? Like I said, the money is nice but the long time success of the company is more important. I want checks to KEEP coming.

I'll take actually seeing my wife every once and a while over 10 times that amount of money.

But your mileage may vary.

LOL. God if I didn't know who it was I'd swear it was trolling fodder.

$1
,000 is chump change, and not worth my days off.

Yes $ 1000 extra per month is chump change when you're normally bringing home 2000 after taxes. BTW, on reserve you're already down to min days off so you're not losing any days off.

Did they not give you your day off back? Personally living in base I have plenty of time to see family, take trips, socialize. Commuting to reserve? That was a whole another ballgame. Flight instructing was better than that mess.

They did, but it was THIS weekend i was going with my wife to visit the inlaws. The replacement days are week days...the days they took off were weekends. Really screwed up some plans.

Last time they took my days off was my birthday weekend, my wife had rented a cabin for over $200. But instead they decided I would rather go to LGA...

Oh Dang! I feel your pain bro I got burned on my birthday as well.I now never ever make significant plans on off days, only GDOs, unless I've already worked 6 days in a row and can't jack me. If they had taken my day off when me and the girl had a trip planned to MIA I would have cried. That's why I planned it on GDOs.

Things are looking up though. When the XJT 24 get here that should push us back up to lineholders. I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Spoken like a true chief, you're on your way man. So how would rate the QOL when you can only plan your needs 6 days a month?

I doubt you'll be pushed to a line, although I really hope you do. I still say they need more than 24. And a bunch more upgrades.

Only plan significant events of GDOs. Still, reserve sucks compared to holding a line. But you just gotta take what's given and make the best out of it. Making plans on off days only to have your day taken away from you is extremely aggravating. So I take the aggravation out by not making big plans of off days.

Why wouldn't I be pushed to a line? Im 20 off a line on the 200 in ATL. Sure it might be close if they only upgrade 24, but I doubt they'll only upgrade that many unless they're looking for a winter meltdown in Dec.

When you're married your plans don't revolve around just you :insane:

Oh and if you're planning on being a successful bigtime lawyer I wouldn't count on too many days or time off with those 80-90hr work weeks. Makes a reserve regional job look like a vacation

Yeah, but the payoff at the end when you make partner is a whole lot better than what you'd get hanging around a subcontractor airline.

Duuude, ASA and Skywest are going be a mega-huge subcontractor...that makes awesome cool! Shiny jets for all!

:sarcasm:

He does not represent the rational rest of our pilot group.

Pleeze, most of your opinions are in the minority. XJT one list support being a great example. 'But but but the MEC's decision doesn't represent the pilot group's feelings!' Get outta here haha
