ASA to fly for United in IAD

I just love when people post things as "news," when it is clearly still a "rumor." Then if it does become "news" later, the "I told you so's" start. Whereas if the rumor proves false, it's "Oh, something must have changed."

I just don't buy into the rumors anymore. Why get everyone's hopes up (or down) needlessly? Personally I enjoy a good sports trade/acquisition rumor instead, because then the discussions are actually interesting. Here, the rumors just breed contempt and discontent amongst the various pilot ranks.

yeah, I don't see why its such a big deal to be the first one to come out with something either. People need hobbies.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the thread over at the other site I remember something about this starting around Feb. Isn't ASA losing about 20 -200's from DAL in Apr or something like that? (obviously I don't know the details). So IF this is the case and this is all true, then ASA is putting 20 new planes in service to then pull 20 planes out of service a couple of months later? Weird.

Starts with 8 in February, transitioning to 15 by April.

Also, this is not the UAL RFP flying that is out over Mesa's flying.

RGT? Not exactly the best source for information, but maybe this will get some of the furloughed guys back if true.

If UAL bought the "our numbers were better than reported due to ATL ops" maybe our management can use that one, too. Our -200 numbers are lightyears ahead of the -900 numbers......

Like everything in aviation, don't believe it until you see it. Also, where is this flying coming from? Doubtful that United is adding MORE -200 flying in addition to what they've already got. So, who's losing planes?

XJT was done on 9/2. There were rumors that they were going to come back for a stint of IAD and ORD flying around turkey time, but I believe that fell through.

As for the CHQ stuff, TSA has picked up some of their Canada stuff, not sure about JFK, LGA, CMH, BUF.

I've heard lots of rumors about this, but as with anything I don't believe it until someone can show me an official announcement. Wouldn't be surprised tho because I know Skywest doesn't want to touch IAD.

You have an official memo? Also where's the memo that says the RFP that was for the UAL flying is to take over Mesa flying? I was not aware that was official either?

ASA = SkyWest;)

Sorta. Skywest can TECHNCIALLY say they've still never furloughed, even though ASA is owned by Skywest. If ASA takes performance hits for flying in and out of IAD, Skywest still looks good in the DOT charts since they are tracked separately. The red headed stepchild syndrome continues.

It's sorta like how Pinnacle was saying Colgan was a great investment back in the early days post-purchase even though they were bleeding cash. The financials were for Pinnacle CORP, so Pinnacle Inc was generating enough revenue to off set Colgan losses and then some. If you dug into the balance sheet, you could see where Colgan was losing money, which just made the knife wound and the salt hurt more when they kept telling us over here "there's no money for that in a new contract." Things have since improved on the financials at Colgan, but at a cost of a lot of Saab flying.

With a minor difference in which ASA actually makes money for Skywest Inc. A fair amount I might add.

Official annoucement should be made within the next week. ASA will open a crewbase in IAD for 20 CRJ 200s. This is not growth flying, just prevention of further shrinkage. More details to come later.

I wish they made muzzles for keyboards. Or even keyboards with a "DISCRETION" button.
