ASA PBS vote food for thought

I was talking about the first-round list of things the union wanted. Initially, Furlough protection for some, or all of the remaining post-contract pilots was on the list of things the union was after. Makes sense though, if you drop that big requirement, there are many other things you can spend your bargaining capital on.

Did you not read the rest of my post?

You get that FMLA stuff straightened out?

No idea man. I got the paperwork, and now I've got TWO doctors on the problem. I've got my sick note, and I hadn't gotten the FMLA paperwork printed. Guess I've got some work to do after my appointment tomorrow morning.

The MEC should show up at the airport on a consistent basis, as this is where the entire pilot group is. You have made some good points on this thread, however this is complete BS. They could easily spend 1 day per month visiting the lounge, as we do pay their salary.

Your MEC Vice Chairman (also an ALPA EVP) flies the line more than half of the month, so he's at the airport constantly. If you haven't seen him, it's mere coincidence. The MEC members are all line pilots, so again, they're flying almost full schedules and at the airport a lot. Your MEC Chairman does spend time at the airport, and probably a lot more than one day per month. Expecting him to be there constantly so you can see him is not realistic, however. It's rare that he isn't in the office, though, so if you don't see him in the crew lounge, you can always stop by the office and talk to him.

Don't buy it ATN. Just pilots complaining to be complaining. I see Nick T and Andrew T at the airport all the time. As well as Seth H. Usually answering questions with a small group of pilots around them. There's several copies of the PBS LOA all around the lounge, as well as a couple computers set up for testing the Flightline software. The MEC is doing a great job.

The situation you described sounds like a CPO intern made some copies, ran a .exe file on a few computers, and a few pilots sitting around the lounge chatting with their buddies.

For being furloughed, you sure described it perfectly!!! Trip7 pounds more koolaid about everything than anyone I know. I too have seen Nick and Seth around the lounge, however I have never seen the MEC chair, vice chair, sec/treasurer, D.U. or M.S. in the lounge and I'm there a lot. I have also never seen the PWG members there. I have been to the offices so I know who they are, however never seen any of them at the airport.

So you see members of the MEC there but they're not good enough to talk to?

I did a quick trip with someone mentioned above, not too talkative. It was being stuck in a room with my mother-in-law in a wierd, creepy way.
