ASA/ExpressJet

Indoc in ATL for the CRJ. This could all change overnight again, like it did this week. My buddy was given an option for ERJ or CRJ prior to going to class, then told he didn't have a choice and CRJ it was.

Edit: Back-to-back posts... Forum etiquette fail.

Why couldn't that have been me?

If they say it's one plane or the other, can you decline and wait for the other airplane if you want?

Interesting that we're supposedly losing 19 airplanes by the end of the year (only 3 months away) yet we continue to run classes on the CRJ side during the slowest time of the year. Our attrition isn't that high and FTDT isn't going to be that big of an effect......Something is going on.

Here is the problem, the clowns in ATL have no idea how to run an airline of this size. They still think we are just ASA size, and not the 4500+ pilot group that we are.

FTDT will be way over their head, they are not preparing properly and I fully expect reserve coverage to go up come January to cover for their incompetence and lack of planing.

I do anticipate some of those E175s from that SkyWest order to head to the ERJ pilot group, probably some 2-for-1 swap for 50 seaters. The attrition is also higher on ERJ side which would also explain the continious hiring.

Either way, I feel management has given up, they don't give a rats ass about the operation or truly don't know how to run an airline of this size. They seem to be more concerned about stupid crap and programs to make the A-Tech folks "feel appreciated".

Oh, and I am tired of flying broken airplanes with laundry lists of MELs! Buy some damn parts so the maintenance guys who are just as frustrated can fix them!

/end rant

My theory is that it's all part of contract negotiations. "God, we're so poor. We can't afford to fix stuff. For 20% of your paycheck you can adopt a crappy airline. As part of your donation every three months we will send you ALMOST enough money to eat at some crappy chain restaurant."

There is no way we can suck this bad on accident. However it happens, I bet whenever all the contract BS is settled we magically start making money again.

Looks ike Xjet is getting some more routes added next year out of ORD... http://myemail.constantcontact.com/...-Hare.html?soid=1102463494613&aid=RVYuzEWTuOQ

Sounds like all the hot spots! :p

ELM - We've been going there on the CRJ side for some time now. Nothing special, but scenery is pretty nice with the hilly terrain. Watch out for gliders coming off the hill on final for Rwy 6. Corning Inc. is the big player out there. Long overnight is pretty decent, go down Market Street, lot's of different restaurants and bars. Glass Museum is in the vicinity of hotel, if you are into that stuff.

FOE - Topeka Airport. Middle of nowhere with no airline service, unless Great Lakes still goes there? Flown some basketball charters in there. Best part of the airport. $1 BBQ sandwich, comes with chips, potato salad, soda and ice cream... Pretty darn good, and all for a buck.

SCE - Been there once, basketball charter again. College town, probaby not a bad overnight.

Did Lakes ever go there. Even back when there was the Air Midwest hub at MCI, I don't think there was ever service from FOE.

L-xjt cant fly any of skypests e175s until we take "considerable concessions" in our new contract. Might be a while until we see that, may be a year or 4 from now....

Hope you guys don't sell out for a jet....

I actually am beginning to think that the next XJT TA might not pass... There are a LOT of pissed off pilots around here, both ASA and L-XJT. I'd rather be on the street than take a pay cut...

What about all the pilots that never applied themselves to another craft, except operating airplanes around?

But, but, but...what will they do?

To help me understand the context of this post are you talking about pilots in general or those specifically at your company? If it is directed towards those at your airline, is your post directed at Captains or First Officers?
