ASA/ExpressJet

How can you give a recommendation for someone you've never met?
Have them send an email describing their morals/character/ aviation goals... Then write about their personality. This is a small community we need to help eachother out

How can you give a recommendation for someone you've never met?
You must be new to the industry. Student pilot? I wanna help people out. What is the worst that is going to happen to me? Do you think Expressjet will call me if someone turns out to be a prick? I am just another brick in the wall to management. If I can help a new guy get his foot in the door I will. It's up to the individual to take advantage of that opportunity.

"New" lol, yeah I'm a student pilot

A referral is one thing, but a personal recommendation for someone you have never met and know absolutely nothing about is just weird to advertise on a public forum, sorry that's just how I feel. I agree we need to help each other out, but regionals aren't exactly being "selective" these days.

I'm not new, and I wouldn't advertise recommendations on the board for people I don't know. Kudos for you for helping out, but it only takes a batch of bad ones for the company to start putting less weight on internal recs.

And especially, less weight on YOUR internal recs.

Every one of my recommendations has interviewed, been hired, and passed training. I fully intend to keep it this way, and won't write a letter unless I know someone.

Cool story bro! That's super!

ERJ side just got arbitrated a steaming pile of crap for bigger plane flying

Was just down for recurrent and had the union lunch thing and they were saying that because it would effect the new CBA our side will...or should...have ratification rights. Not sure if that is the case with arbitration.

The award includes PBS. Your MEC throwing a party yet?

Or if your MEC was more pragmatic, took a realistic look at the provisions of the L-ASA PBS system, y'all would have had a joint contract by now, money in the bank, and in a much better position.

I can't respond since we literally have no factual information to go on. The last I heard is that our MEC didn't like the ASA PBS system but was willing to look at other (better) options. The concern is getting screwed by going over to a PBS system.. So now we give up line bidding, and gain a wopping $2.00/hr to fly a plane twice the size of what we fly now, on a concessionary contract... Brilliant.

Remember, PBS is like saying "Religion".

Now the specific "Denomination" depends on the implementation of PBS.

Judaism, Jesus Christ Scientist and Jehovah's Witness are all religions, but altogether very different.

PBS can be awesome if it's to help the pilots bid and help the company cover trips and you have the ability to monitor it for quality control and have a method of saying "Negatron.... RUN IT AGAIN!" (SouthernJets)

PBS can be your worst nightmare if it's just being used to squeeze blood out of a turnip, you have no QC and the company says "Here are your results, read it and weep". (SouthernJets Express)

It already is.

This is true.. Honestly man, there's so little information out there about what's really going on it's like we're following blindly whatever the union says. Nearly every conversation about the contract between pilots at L-XJT is based off rumors.
