Are all AA pilots old??...:P AA Pilot Profile

Just a humble simple question with no intend to offend anybody :)
This winter I had the priviledge to travel a lot. 11 Round trip flights All of them on AA!! on different routes and and Airplanes, Manily MD-80,A300 I believe, 757 and 730-800.. So I noticed that all.. and by all I mean around 9 out of 10 of AA pilots I saw where, or at least they looked 40 or more!.. not to say 50t years old.. Including the Copilots! . The Average was a 5´9 White Male Average body (some little chuby:rolleyes:) structure with White hair!. Yes.. I know not really descriptive description. But you get the point.
Last week I flew 3 segments on 3 different airlines. Continental express, Aeromexico Connect and Interjet, and did noticed a HUGE age! diference on the Pilots and FLIGHT ATTENDANTS! these ones average 22- 40 tops (The capitans).. and Attendants around 30 Tops.
And yes I know that those regional airlines have a lot of newbies and thats probably why you see a long of young people, where as in the legacy carriers you get to see many perhaps babie boomers still around ;)...
Sorry if anybody got offended, This is not a critic of people in their 50´s in no way. This is just a simple thing I noticed lately happening on the legacy carriers ..:)

Well they didn't lose (or give away) their retirement so the 50-plus pilots had no incentive to retire early.

That coupled with the TWA merger/acquisition and no hiring for years, that's about right.

It's a man's job, baby! ;)

There really should be an age restriction for flight attendants. Once gravity starts to take affect, they should force the girls to retire. Like in Singapore.

Many of you know my affinity for my Cabin Cougars. ;)

Yes.. And as you said it also goes for flight attendants! it seems as if the legacy carriers would only hire or have all senior attendants by now! .. and I was really surprised of the amount of male attendants I saw this time! I had 2 flights in the MD with an all MALE CREW!... Not that its bad at all.. but you know... I really missed those days when you couldnt wait to see how where the flights attendants on your flight... :p..
Having Senior Female Attendants.. OK I´ll go with it (part of life..)...
But having an all (Old Male) Crew (flight attendants) in your flight really kills it :P :o...

Actually, they're known to give impeccable customer service!

...grow up!

Hows about you just get on the plane and ride it from point A.) to B.) and not care about who's servicing you in the cabin, or the lavatory.

It's like what I overheard in LAS on the way to NJC last year. A kid probably an A.net nerd stated that he really wanted to fly on an A321, not an A219 to LAS.

The co-pilot standing outside the cabin door waving goodbye and smiling, without skipping a beat simply stated "well, still got you here safely, didn't it?"

"Thank you come again!"

And no, that a.net geek wasn't me! :D

:laff:I felt like an A.net nerd going to Vegas. It was my first time on an Airbus:D

I couldnt tell how comfy it was because I spent 3/4 of the flight bouncing around in my seat:crazy:

What? The "this plane is too small" comments don't stop once you work for a "major"? If I was still hearing that every day after a thirty year career I think I'd take need to be institutionalized in short order.

A few days ago I encountered a quartet of TSA "securitrons" standing at one of our gates, loudly proclaiming how claustrophobic they become while inside of our aircraft. That's gotta be good for business...... :banghead: I don't come to their house, stand in front of their garage, and make fun of their geo metro, so please, extend us the same courtesy. I've been flying the thing for 3 and a half years, I have its dimensions memorized, so I'm well aware of its size.

But back on topic, AA hasn't hired anyone since they merged with TWA, and that was what, 2000? So the youngest ones you'd find would probably be at least in their mid 30's. They still have about 2,000 pilots on furlough I think, and their most Jr. Captain was an august 1991 hire.

What, that's no trip report. I wanted to know the aircrafts registration number, flight numbers, and previous registration numbers in case it had been in service with other airlines before United.

I also needed to know it's roll out date form the factory, what type of engines it had, and it's delivery date to United.

:D
Sorry boss, I wont let you down next time:D

No offense taken. When people talk about anything over 40 being OLD!!!!!!!!! and then throw in the stuff about chubby and white-headed, us chubby white-headed fifty-something guys don't even really notice.

Have mercy!!:drool::whatever:..... Thats what I was talking about.. I asked once A pilot how long did it take him to upgrade (assuming he was a capt. you know by the way he looked) (and no.. I didnt read the stripes) (and yes looks are deciving:P) .. and he look to me in a funny way... Well I been riding right seat for the last 15 years ... Thats wrong!..simply wrong.:panic: haha.. but well as long as you like what you do, enjoy the pay and the benefits, I guess its fine. I just pray it doesnt happen to me :p
