No plans! I'd like to get into kart racing and travel a bit more. This is all very interesting. What are your plans in retirement?
Muni bonds are horrible for retirement income. They have zero appreciation and inflation will kill them. Someone can probably trade them for a profit but long term holdings? I shudder.Municipal bonds and depreciated real estate?
That’s very astute as the small caps have the best returns HOWEVER their biggest issue is volatility. Like I said above risk vs return S&P is king over the course of history which of course doesn’t guarantee anything moving forward.I am hoping for about 7 more years to be independent and another 5 years to not having to do anything. I am emulating my parents which have about 95% similar holdings for the past 40 years. They've moved over to total markets when those became available. The problem with the S&P 500 is missing the huge growth of the smaller companies before they can bump off a delisted company.
That’s the best time to have free cash, when equities go on sale. The biggest issue most have is simply staying invested when their balances are tumbling off a cliff.
Almost forgot my favorite, a 1031 exchange. Haven’t been able to use it yet but maybe next year.Municipal bonds and depreciated real estate?
