Anyone Else IFOD January?

Read them, re-read them, read them backwards. That’s what I had to do. There are a lot of ways to interpret regs and you need to know how to interpret them properly. Otherwise you’ll get confused

Don’t bother memorizing the regs. The important thing is to understand them, and to properly apply them.
The instructors here are VERY good at tying concepts together. Even if the explanation seems like a long drawn out process, once they get to the end it totally makes sense.

The hardest part so far is remembering crew duty hours.

The nice thing is stuff has charts and once you know where to look up stuff you can figure out answers.

I got a 96% on the first test though, so that makes me happy!

Fun reading this knowing I started my dispatch course a year ago today. It's crazy the difference a year makes. Keep up the positive attitude towards work and you will go far in this business.

Had a great week this past week. Definitely learned a lot.

This past week we did most of the Chapters out of the ASA ATP Book. This week we'll be learning Aerodynamics and Performance, Weight and Balance, and Weather (we did METARs this past week).

Happy to have the weekend to study and digest the material and then back to hitting it hard on Monday.

I will say that the daily quizzes that IFOD gives help tremendously! You constantly have to recall everything so you never get a chance to forget. That's definitely something that people looking at their program should know.

Thought I’d update y’all that I am scheduled for the ADX Written next Thursday.

You'll do great! Mark and Kash won't put you in until you are ready so feel confident if they give you the go ahead. Then take the weekend off and don't peak into the oral prep guide unless told, it will totally throw you off if you do.

Goodluck !I passed the test my first try,but barely! I decided to just memorize the answers using an app from the app store ..I kinda regretted doing it that way because when I go to class they thought since I passed my ADX I knew my stuff..I didnt I just memorized the answer..

The more questions I have contex for, the better I do. Then I just have to memorize the rest.

The info that we are taught that I’ll actually use I study my butt of for though

Good to have a general idea of what they are, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. Every airline I've been at has had crew planners and schedulers who know the limits in depth. If you ever get promoted to ops manager, you might deal with it some then, but you still wouldn't have to know the limits inside and out like schedulers do.

Thanks! Turns out I only had one question on my written about pilot duty hours anyway.

Lots of reading charts, and I felt like a had a crap ton of performance questions. Lots of WX and Regs of course. Everything else, was just little simple things here and there, no big deal.

Of course having practice tests every day in class helped a ton!

For those of you currently at ifod or alumni, do they offer a discounted recurrent training program of some sort? I.e. a refresher course for someone already in possession of their license but is out of touch with the knowledge required to obtain it.

Thanks
