Any runners round here?

My run this weekend.

Training for a 35 mile run in three weeks. Probably gonna die.

+1 for foam roller but it is absolutely brutal until you get used to it.

There is no getting used to it really. I just repeat to myself over and over that it will be 100% better the next day. Calf and Hamstrings on the foam roller aren't horrible. The IT band is a completely different situation. You pretty much want to hurt someone or cry. But, running in compression tights (CW-X is my favorite brand) is something I can't compromise on long runs, half marathons or marathons. Recovery is so much faster and it keeps things aligned. Not a difficult transition for girls because they are like putting on hosiery, but guys have a learning curve. ;)

Will any foam roller do?

Yes and No. The type of foam determines if it holds up, or if you will replace yours. If it looks sturdy, you shouldn't have a problem. I see good ones even at Wal-Mart now. Who knew? I am intrigued by the new travel foam rollers that collapse. Would be perfect on the road.

Any of y'all use a heart rate sensor? I started to use a Wahoo Tickr and it's sweet. But now I'm scared I'm damaging heart. I set up the target zones to fit my age but I'll always in the 85-90% area and I really don't feel strained.

Anybody have any insight? To keep my heart in the anaerobic zone I have to slow way down.

You had your own Half Marathon. Without water stops, and a medal. ;)

I am not a fan of the heart rate tracking/training process, but Marathon Junkie, Chuck Engle is all about it. Might look up his page for more info. He is quite responsive with questions, but he is too competitive for me. I don't want to be an Olympian. :)

ran a warrior dash last weekend. obstacles were easy compared to spartan, distance was short (5K), but it was a good time regardless.

denver hm coming up in october, then vegas hm in november. no fulls this year, being injured/sick at the beginning of the year set me too far behind.
