Any other airshow pilots on here?

"(I'm not 'religious' btw)"

You don't post pics of a 150 that says "God Rules" on the tail and not be religious....

"Religion" is something man-made that encompasses unimportant doctrines, traditions, et cetera.

Wow 31 posts in your first 10 hours on this board. That is impressive.:sarcasm:

Just remember, we are all gonna burn. Just some a little more than others.

Good answer.

I got a t-shirt that says "reject religion, embrace jesus" Don't have the balls to wear it around since I'm basically a non-confrontative sort of guy (in real life).

Yeah, so keep me informed on the website and what you guys do.

And I've had a flight instructor (the best one I've ever had) say something to me about Christians and resignation (another H.A.!). Somewhat offended, I let him know as I will you, that I take pride in what I do. I'm not gunna just let go of the controls when I'm scared or sumthin, and I don't know where people get that crap from.

Sorry, I didn't mean anything to offend. I don't worry about people letting go of the controls and trusting God to save them. That's like stepping in front of a train and expecting God to save you. But what I wonder about is the overall mindset highly spiritual pilots take towards flying and training.

You get into a tight spot, you get out of a tight spot...what saved you? God, or your training? Believe me, I care a great deal about God. I've been in a few sticky situations while flying and started praying (silently, I must add). Obviously, I made it through, because I'm sitting here typing this. So was it divine intervention or was it my training, skill, and judgement that kept me out of trouble? I don't know. Half of me says God watches out for me. The other half of me says that God or no God, training is what it comes down to at the end of the day...because if God intervenes so much, why do we bother to train so hard?

I don't know. It's something to ponder.

Awesome post. It has to do with your particular scenario. You know, how did you apply your training/skills? This is pretty much the way my instructor started to put it. Some of my ponderings will never be met before I see God face to face. One other thing I'd like to add just for my sake and yours is that there are some situations you just can't train for.

Like that guy who had an ejection seet failure and was stuck in the broken canopy whilst the other pilot was trying to land the jet on the carrier in a rainstorm. Your knowledge would say you need to slow down so the guy can breathe, but you don't want to stall...

or that Israeli F-15 that flew home with an entire wing ripped off after a mid-air. The makers of the plane calculated that it would be impossible to maintain flight...

I dunno just babbling.

First, lemme thank all of the participants of this thread. I started reading hte first page and thought I was going to have to move it to the lav, but you guys brought it back on course and I think we all learned something!

Second, the closest I am to the airshow circuit is my neighbor (and co-worker) a few doors down: Jeff Boerboon. In fact, him and his brother are restoring an A-4.

If anyone came to our 2004/2005 New Years Eve party, you probably already met him! :)

you're welcome. I don't know military planes to well, but if an A4 is what I think it is., there are already A LOT of those at every airshow.

I haven't seen an A-4 at an airshow since the Blue Angels flew 'em (about 20+ years ago)! A-4's are awesome!:rawk:

I'm thinking about trying to bum a ride if it's a TA-4, but I'm senior to him in SLC so it might not be a prudent move. :)

ok my mistake

I was thinking of some big fat plane with a prop

I saw one of those airplanes at the airshow at Nellis this past November, very catchy scheme I must say.:)
