Another hiring rumor...

Yup, second from the right!

It was taken in Korea during the war.

It's kind of my motivational reminder that if a farm boy from Alabama can join the Army to fight an enemy which he had no beef with, I can pretty darned much do anything.

Doug,

Do you know what unit your father was with in Korea?

My dad also served in Korea. 7th Cav.

Dad's from Northport!

I got ya. Out towards Tuscaloosa area right? Can't say I enjoyed my time heading out that way, being an Auburn fan and all, but it's cool to see what a small world it really is.

Anyway, the offer for beer/dinner is still out there for whenever you head to the GO for training. I'll be more than happy to cut the chain loose from desk here at the TOC for a little while.

HOw do you know (of) troy???

I'm just that cool.

Actually we had a Delta jumpseater a few months ago who was talking about the "Save Dave" campaign at the *other* major ATL carrier and how it was hard to make something cool up with Troy.

Basically the furloughed guys at DL just referred to themselves as TK+XXX. With XXX being whatever number senior to T.K. they were. So TK+17 would have been the guy who was 17 guys senior to T.K.

Bet he never thought he'd be this famous for being the bottom guy on the totem pole! Just his dumb luck to have been the last guy sitting when the music stopped.

I thought he was the last guy furloughed? So, wouldn't that make him the last guy standing when the music stopped???:( Not making fun of it, but making sure I have the story straight...

I called him the last guy sitting because he's the bottom guy on the DL senority list. Therefore, he got the last 'seat', before hiring was stopped.

Solely my interpretation :)

First guy furloughed, actually. He was the least person that Delta hired however many years ago, and was the first to go when the furloughs started coming.

That also of course means he was the last to come back.

Ahhh, gotcha. I was reading it differently... :)

Thanks, JH. That answers that question. I knew it was something like that, and that he was one of the furloughees...just confused with MQAA's post.

Fair enough, but at least I'm not flying a one propeller death trap!

(First person to tell me who that line comes from gets a free beer from me)

Well TK is deciding--but hasn't received any "next day air" yet--neither have others in that class! But TK is happily placed now, as are others, so who knows what the decisions will be?

Others are in the military and will accept recall and immediately go on leave.

All will retain seniority numbers per the contract.
