Another Drunk pilot pulled of the airplane

Skywest holier than thou strikes again!

You guys are a really odd pilot group.

I hope they get the help they need.
I get both sides. Even if a person does have the disease, if they get smashed and get into a car and kill my family because they were driving drunk, I really will have zero sympathy for them. That kind of goes for flying in that state too, and it's a crappy thing to put your crew into that position too. What if the CA doesn't smell it and can't catch it, etc?
On the other hand, I would hope that before a person gets to this point, they can get some actual help so they don't end up going off the deep end like that. Same thing if a mentally ill person goes nuts and chops someone to pieces, I'm not exactly going to say "well it's understandable, they're sick." Which unfortunately for both of those situations in this country, there's either not enough resources available for the people that need them, or there's so much of a stigma attached to it that it probably stops some people from seeking treatment before it's too late. A real disgrace too, people should be commended for doing the hard thing and admitting they need help, not looked down upon.

People are weird about booze. Lots of lols had about borderline self-medication and certain times in life as ok to be lost in an alcohol coma, then when a percentage of those folks turn out to contract this disease (since we're calling it that) of alcoholism there's a lot of hand wringing and sadness and "how could this happen?". Almost like we encourage folks to fingerpaint with cesium and are shocked when some of them get cancer.

Maybe if you're drinking it moments before the test.

Doubtful even that would give you a false positive in the first place as the alcohol concentration is so low and the way the test is administered.

But even if that happened and you did get a false positive, they give you twenty minutes to take another Breathalyzer to see if the first was a false positive. If you just had a swill in the mouth (or even swallowed it accidentally) for dental hygiene before the first test it wouldn't show up as a false positive on the second one.

One Delta guy asks for a ride report, ATCMemes think we all do.

Darn them for asking about a smooth ride for passenger comfort.

Love that new live turbulence measuring and rebroadcasting app. Nope, ain't sharing it! :)

Addiction may have prodded him into drinking a few too many but it certainly didn't force him into putting on the uniform.

I don't understand all the hate on Delta about turbulence, I find AAL to be much more a pain in the butt with ride reports or refusing to fly through clouds that everyone in front and behind them flies through

We installed accelerometers on most of our airplanes where it measures turbulence. It gets uplinked to a magic brain somewhere in the CONUS. Gets processed along with altitude, lat/long/speed, intensitity, aircraft type, mixed together with forecast modeling, then uplinked to the Surface EFB devices around the world graphically, both laterally and vertically Then it's "predictive" because it knows your current flight plan, where you are and where you're going.

Pretty cool stuff.

I'll try to snag a photo of it.

I was jumpseating on y'all one day and the captain wouldn't stop bragging about it.

I'm a pain in the butt about that too, but it's mostly because conditions can change quickly and I'm not going to fly my aircraft through something that will get me fired when I hit a bunch of hail.
