Announcement Ending 05/02

If anyone is considering coming the day before and wants to stay at a hotel then you should book a room at the hotel the test is being held at. It is the radisson hotel on the corner of the L I E service road east and North Ocean Avenue. See you guys there.

You read my mind!!!! I'm driving over on a Sunday afternoon for the test on a monday morning. Priceline got me a room there for $50! I knew it would be that hotel, since it was the only 3.5* hotel they have in the area... so I was pretty confident bidding that it would end up the radisson. Worked out too!!

This way I don't have to get up at 0-dark-30 and be stressed from city traffic before the test....

I will also be testing in ATL which is actually going to be in Peachtree City, and i contacted Robinson Aviation, and was told that our names have been sent over from the FAA, but it might be a few days before the emails get sent out:rolleyes:.

Thank you very much. Yeah, I have a family friend that lives in Peachtree, so I will probably stay with them as I have to fly in from Lexington. Lucky for me, he works in the tower at ATL, so I will be getting a nice ol' tour of all of the facilities while I am down there. I have seen CVG, never ATL though. Needless to say, I'm pretty pumped.

I'll also be taking the AT-SAT in Holtsville, NY in July. I'm doing the same as most of you - driving the day before and staying at the hotel the test is at. Just a head's up that I got a very nicely discounted rate when I mentioned I was staying because of the test.

Hmm... I already booked my room for the 30th online. What kind of a discount are we talking about here? Worth calling up and asking about?

Im not sure where I will be taking the test in. Hopefully California somewhere.. with the tickets for travel from honolulu to the the mainland it is ridiculous! But anywhere would be great. I am just super excited that I got pass pre-screening because if I make it I would probably be the youngest controller there is. :rawk:

And you are how old?

Do you have any idea if this is always the Long Island location for testing? It's only 8mi. away...:)

I'm not sure about the specific hotel, but the February applicants also tested in Holtsville... that's the extent of my knowledge...

Lucky for you if it is though... I was all ready for it to be in Manhattan or something so I'm like "OK... 20-30 minute ride, no problem"... now I get to look forward to a 1.5-2 hour drive :banghead:

....im 17 and I turn 18 in December, they said as long as I am 18 by the time that I graduate the acadamy.. everyone thinks that someone my age cannot meet the requirements but I DO!!!

I have no idea how that's even possible, but good job! :rawk:

Im not like academically SUPER EXCELLED or anything but my we have a family business here.. and I got into as many programs as I could to get half day or work study programs.. so at like 16 I was a licensed EMT for a elderly community and with my family business I gained authority and the knowledge to be the companies Human Resources Director. I would have never been able to get this far without the family business but im sure hoping it pays off in the end. Thanks though!!!:rawk:

Impressive. Did you graduate early?

I'm not much older than you. I was a bit concerned that they would harbor prejudice versus my age; however, it's good to know that they're open-minded. We may lack planetary wisdom, but we've got a boundless aptitude to learn.

EDIT: You're a quick typer. Yes, a family business'll do it.

Human Resources Director? Did you have the pleasure of making a grown man cry?

Still waiting on test date email:banghead:. I will feel much better once i can schedule my test. This seems like it is taking forever, but then i remind myself, that the people going to Oklahoma City now have been in the process for around a year.:drool:

You are absolutely correct! with the adrenaline that is rushing through me whenever I am on this site... I end up typing SUPER fast because I just want to schedule my test date already. Answer to your question: I know it may seem a little weird but I have hired and fired people old enough to be my parents... and older.. But see it was not weird for them because I don't look my age. I carry myself older and unless I tell you how old I am all my co-workers assumed another 3-6 years higher. I was also just talking to my brother about this... If I get this job, and start now... I would be able to retire before 40 years old! Not sure how much older you are but probably still a really decent retirement age.. not that im planning on retiring early.. just the thought.:rawk:

So modest... :p

Anyway, it's still impressive at your age that you could already have the amount of experience required for this

HAHA yes!!! modest I am.. even about myself. :) But your so lucky you got your test schedule already! Im DIEING waiting for mine!!!

I haven't heard of any new locations since Monday... I hope they get to you soon. And this side of the email is nervewracking too... now I get to look forward to the test and think, "Man, I hope I'm not the first person to ever fail this thing..." :)

manilei, it looks like you will probably test in Oakland, according to the locations who have not been contacted yet.
