Stunned pilot photographs launch of hypersonic weapon which then flies right over his plane

I saw a missile launch test that looked like this in Vegas that occurred off the coast in San Diego years ago. My entire neighborhood, include myself thought aliens were invading. We were all outside watching it discussing how we were going to survive. At least now I know what it will feel like if aliens ever invade and I won't be surprised by the emotions. :D

Even things hundreds of miles away can be, eh, somewhat alarming under the right circumstances. I remember back in the mists of time doing a repo leg in a Beatchjet. It was in the bad old days of 91 repos after a full 135 day of flying. We were beat, think it was like 11 or 12 at night...I was flying (by which I mean I was staying awake and sort of bleerily half-watching the autopilot do its thing). All of the sudden, huge bright light 12 oclock and RIGHT THERE, moving towards us at insane speed! Spilled the coffee, woke the F/O, got within an ass hair of clicking off the autopilot. It was a shooting star.

Didn't need coffee to stay awake for the rest of the leg!

First time I flew from Carlsbad, NM to Presidio, TX (aka Zeta Cartel International Airport) I noticed 'that's an odd small circle restricted area, okay ill flight plan just 3 mi outside it rather than climbing over it.'

Then cooking along, and just kind of glance up when I got near it and was like 'Aaaaahh!! Zee Germans!!!' and even though I triple, checked my flight plan I quad checked again that moment.

for all of you who don't fly regularly near the border it was a CBP aerostat.

Shooting star woke me up once. Looked like someone shot a green military flare right over my wingtip. Had to check alt to make sure I'm still at 9000

You would be surprised how many people flying green helicopters over the desert have reacted to contact because of what a shooting star or passing light flash looks like through a pair of NVGs.

I nearly rolled a helicopter inverted one night because of a flash of the moon off a lake out of the corner of my eye while we were over the target area.
