Amerijet On Strike!

This actually does A LOT more, in my opinion, to further the aims of the strikers. Let me explain.

If KII had simply declined to take the freight because of "SCAB" being thrown around...didn't even consider the possibility of doing it...people would simply say "Pilot group said "no", company had no choice".

From your perspective, the company looked into this area (the struck freight) and after reviewing all of the data said "Flying struck freight, even in this misreable business climate is not worth it".

Point is this - anyone can make a knee-jerk reaction based upon a prevailing ideology. Kalitta II didn't make a knee-jerk decision...they actually studied the decision...and still decided that flying the struck freight was a bad move. This is more meaningful to me and should be more meaningful to others.

Thank you for posting. I admire that you came here to state your views.

You beat me to it Waco. My thoughts exactly.

It shouldn't be.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would say "but I love flying so much" that they would take a job that pays them crap wages for a company that comes pretty damn close to literally crapping on them. Or more accurately, makes them crap on themselves.

What needs to happen is that people need to say, eff you when the job offer comes from a company like that.

Wages and working conditions do not get better until companies that treat their workers like crap find they can't get anyone to work for them.

And when it comes to scabbing, I just don't understand why anyone would say, yes, a job where I have to piss in a bag and get below market wages is worth crossing a line. It just makes no sense to me.

If you look at the airlines that HIG owns, there's arguably a history of better working conditions and pilot treatment before HIG took ownership.

We have a winner!!!

Good Evening All:

This e-mail correspondence will serve as notification that we have reached a tentative agreement with Amerijet International. Though this tentative agreement has been reached, we will continue to be on strike until a collective bargaining agreement is voted on over this coming weekend and is ratified by the membership.

Please note that, sometime tomorrow, we will be sending a copy of the entire document to be voted on to the e-mail addresses that we have on file and Amerijet will be posting it on CrewNet to ensure that everyone has ample time to review the collective bargaining agreement before it is voted on.

To answer any questions regarding the document, I will be available at the Union Hall on Thursday, September 10th and Friday, September 11th between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The vote will be held at the Union Hall at 12365 West Dixie Highway , North Miami , Florida , 33161 on Saturday, September 12, 2009 between 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 13, 2009 between 12:00 p.m. (Noon) and 5:00 p.m.

We urge everyone to carefully review the tentatively agreed to collective bargaining agreement, ask any questions you may have and vote on Saturday or Sunday.

Once the votes are counted on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. all will be advised as to the outcome – whether we go back to work or we continue on strike.

The demands wern't anything but basic, you would think they wouldn't be hard to meet.

True. But consider the company they're dealing with here. The fact things even degenerated to this point says a hell of alot about Amerijet's management, none of it good.

OK...and it seems like the big losers here are...THE SCABS.

They basically flew their bewbies off, got an extra weeks worth of pay (that the strikers didn't get), and are now forever branded as SCABS. They gain no seniority, their SCABBING didn't provide them with any kind of a benefit (except for the additional pay the strikers didn't get...at the expense of flying their ass off), and I bet the cockpits at Amerijet going forward will be really comfortable for them when paired with a striker. At least the CAL guys got some kind of seniority boost (or thought they would...something about "Super seniority" or something, not sure what that was). Anyway, the Amerijet SCABs basically scabbed for a low-end job, no seniority boost, and one weeks worth of pay. Nice job!

The Amerijet SCABS may or may not deserve a jumpseat home because of their scabbing...but I don't want them in or around the cockpit of an airplane I am on simply because their decision making process is really flawed...how stupid.

I can only assume you held these same opinions of scabs before seeing this strike online, right?

Or did it take this event for you to formulate your opinion of scabs?

Doesn't matter if they scabbed for a low-end job, no seniority boost, and one weeks worth of pay. Scabbing for a high end job, seniority boost, and five months worth of pay is still worthless to the rest of the profession. And, those same individuals, largely, display the same irrational thought processes that you wouldn't want in the cockpit of an airplane you are on.

More importantly, the strike is not over. The striking AMJ crews need all the support we can give them.

Well...let's see. In the summer of 1985 I spend many, many days at the IFFA strike headquarters with my aunt (who was an IFFA official) helping the TWA FA's at their strike headquarters, on picket lines, and various other "gopher" types of things and got a first hand look, over a long period, of a protracted and intense strike. So, I guess the answer to your incredibly condescending question is that I have always felt that Scabs were scum. The point I was making was that Scabbing for nothing demonstrates stupidity on top of cowardice/malevolence.

:clap:Assuming the TA is voted in and the strike ends, that is about right. I'd imagine the new Amerijet scabs are reaching for a pretty green bag to drop a brick in. Why the hell would you scab for Amerijet (of all places) to begin with?

Getting word from a couple AMJ strikers that they will be voting no to this TA.

Hopefully have more details concerning why over the next couple days. Perhaps one of our own AMJ, if they're aware of this, to indicate why.

Not that I blame them, if it's not to their standards, then obviously they shouldn't pass it just on principle of it being the first TA. Get what you need.

Good luck guys/girls.

Wouldn't this have met their needs if it got far enough to take a vote on? doesn't the union leadership have to TA on it before it goes to a vote? It will be interesting to see what is offered and where the disparity is.

Just because an MEC votes yes on something doesn't mean it should be voted in by the membership. Look at what's going on at 9E right now.

I didn't mean that it had to be voted in by the members, but why would the MEC allow it to go to vote if it didn't meet their demands? Why waste everyones time?
