Pay is by the "unit". If you volunteer for tdy you get paid basically 24/7. Then on top of that just say "more duty please", then waive your rights to any days you were supposed to be off and shazam, big paycheck.

I heard Ameriflight has done some reorganization in the flight and training departments in the last week and Sheri does something different now, so all of this is out the window. If anyone is trying to contact someone, I would say get in touch with the flight department(maybe Debbie B).

I spoke with Ms. Sheri H. at the beginning of this week. She gave me my phone interview. I hope nothing has changed .

Thanks. If you say "more duty please" does that mean you are definately not going to get a day off at all? Or is it that you are on a list for extra work but not necessarily going to get called in?

I'm actually getting good doing several flights a day for 6 days a week but I do like one day off per week.

It really depends if extra flying is available or not. With the bank runs shrinking and you likely starting in the chieftan, it would best to budget on whatever first year chieftan pay is these days. There is no garuantee that extra flying will be available. Times have changed from years past!

under 135 you are required to take a day off.

"each certificate holder shall relieve each flight crewmemeber engaged in scheduled air transportation from all futher duty for at least 24 consecutive hours during any 7 consecutive days.

You don't have to have a day off. Duty off at noon on sat, start at noon on sun, there is "24 consecutive hours" and you can work all 7 days of the week...it sucks...

135 Scheduled rules, yes (24 hours).

135 On Demand rules say I'm legal to work every day from January 14th to June 17th. That is the definition of suck.

good point. either way, there SOME time off.

I got to experience the "joy" of this first hand... No, getting off the clock at noon after putting in a 15 hour day does not count as time off.

To the hotel by 12:30, shower and etc. by 1, get some lunch there now it's 2-3... Don't want to go to sleep yet so try to do something productive like laundry or emails or catch up on JC.. Dinner at 7, done by 9pm, pass out till 8.. Wake up, throw dirty clothes in hotel laundry, eat breakfast, throw into dryer... Take shower... Pack... Repeat...

I once went 3 weeks with swapping between day and night schedules and looking back at my duty periods I worked atleast 5 hours out of every single day for that 3 week period....

How do you figure? Are you free from the responsibility for duty (rest must be free from duty or the responsibility for duty)? Do you know you're going into rest (rest must be known in advance)?

If yes...it sounds like rest to me.

Sorry man, I should post it outside of the rules and into my personal feelings....

When you end up doing a 3 week period like that, where you actualy end up working a portion out of every day in that 3 week period with no true time at home (I get to spend 3 weeks on the road in a hotel room at a time), with duty days varying form being awake all night to being awake all day typically swapping that schedule 2 times a week minimum.... Just taking care of the stuff you need to do is hard to get caught up with.... While free from "duty" without being home there is just a large ammount of "life" stuff to get caught up with....

Typically when I saw the 24/7 come up with it was to get off duty at 7-10AM then go back to work the next day at 10-11AM... That entire day is shot just napping, you don't really want to "sleep" since then you will be up all night and the next day will be a long exhausting one...

To me it's not a regulation thing, it's a fatigue issue... By the end of the 3 weeks it's all I could take back then to get on the airliner home..

I think you're preaching to the choir there, man. Most of us have done the day/night/day/night/day/night thing all with minimum required rest at least a time or two and yeah.........it sucks. Legal, but sucks.
