Apparently there will be some sort of 'big announcement' tomorrow.
I really hope that it involves Super Constellations with Garret engines!!! SUPER METRO!!!
We make a bit more but we get to keep our pay and date of hire. Mind you average tenure at Wiggins is 7 years.
Why is not not manly?!?!
Wow. This is going to create a crapstorm at AMF I gather.
The super conies were turboprops. (Thats what made them super). I am a big fan of radials - but without the Garretts, then they are not SUPER METROS. Look at the long legs on the Connie...it looks a lot like a metro.
It is WAY to early to guess, but wouldn't you think that they would just keep 2 certificates and run it as 2 business with the same owners? Thus no mixing of the pilot pools.
Yes, with power recovery turbines.Uhh the Super Connie had Wright R-3350's on them I am almost positive.
You would have to put them on upside down, though. You could just put four PT6-20s on a Metro and call it a Super Metro too.
Uh....not that I've ever seen. Sure you're not thinking of the Orion?I've never flown one (obviously) but thought they had Pratt & Whitney T34's. I certainly may be wrong.
- 4 × Pratt & Whitney T34-P-6 axial flow turboprop engines, 5,530.67 hp (4,124.22 kW) each

Uh, no.
Google L749 and L1049.
There were no turboprop Constellations.
I'd guess that if the Wiggins operation was doing well enough to run on its own, it wouldn't have been sold. By merging they'll pick up routes and pilots and a few 99s- no reason to keep 3 EMBs when you've already got a Metro schoolhouse. It is WAY to early to guess, but wouldn't you think that they would just keep 2 certificates and run it as 2 business with the same owners? They actually acquired a few more EMBs as of recent funded by AMF.I'd guess that if the Wiggins operation was doing well enough to run on its own, it wouldn't have been sold.
