Only input I have is to make sure you have the flows and limitations down. So down, that you can run/recite anyone of them proficiently with no hesitations with the t.v. on and the ipod going. Or while taking a shower(this is my personal test for knowing if I have things learned or not). For me, it's hard to do without some kind of cockpit mockup, but try to at least get them straight in your head. The two days in front of the cockpit mockup and 2 days in the sim should be enough to get the hand motions down. The ground school, in my opinion, goes plenty slow enough that you can study that material as you go a long. They'll put on a facade of being laid back, and they are if you know your shiz. They'll help you out if you don't, but they'll obviously only go so far.

Be open minded to change certain things with your flying if needed. They're paying you to fly their plane and they're going to want you to fly it their way. Personal example, I don't/didn't care about cross radials on approaches, but they want you to use them. That wasn't a big deal to change for me.

I'd also use this time to polish up on the stuff you're SUPPOSED to know already as well. You probably won't have time to before the checkride. Main thing right now is those flows however.

What are you coming from if you don't mind me asking?
Also study how not to be a dill weed on CTAF and PO Capt. Chaos

So what's the deal with some AD for the Metro coming up? Apparently OAK/HWD is getting a 1900. I wonder what AMF's crappiest 1900 looks like... I'm guessing that's the one that will be sent to AMF "norcal" or whatever they're calling themselves now.

We're buying 4 1900s over in the sand box.

There is a spar AD that is screwing all of the Metros, maybe it hasn't hit yet officially but its coming.

Whats really crappy is that they are taking the Metro away for 6 months to a year from HWD, and are making the guys sign new 1 year agreements for the 1900. I thought that was pretty dick.

Agreed 100% and there are plenty of people who seem to feel honorable to take it up the ass and ask for another, and be perfectly happy about it. That's what is surprising.

DHL has always wanted a 1900 out of OAK. DHL had their 1900 for a short while until a AMF was awarded a FedEx run and told DHL to take a metro & 99 or pack sand. The 1900 pilot who just finished school, was sent to school again for a new plane.

I just found the AD. It went into effect last September. The compliance times gives them a lot of time to inspect the spars so it hasn't hurt the company at all.

The fastest compliance time required are for aircraft with over 35,000 cycles. Says they need to be inspected within the next 300 cycles. Considering a typical run only does 10 cycles a week it would take more than 6 months before it even hits our most used aircraft. That is plenty of time to find and correct any issues if needed.

I was told by BUR that it is going to take about a month per plane to inspect so they are pretty worried about it. Supposedly they are going to try and cycle all of the planes through BUR as well.

I sure hope not. They have some terrible metros out of there

That just what I was initially told, just like everything at AMF things can change. And I am pretty disconnected from AMF now.
