I know two guys showed up in OAK the other day for training only to get sent home. One guy was actually running the before start checklist when his training captain got the call to suspend all training!
this really sucks.
I just hope it ends at this and they dont actually furlough pilots... but I wouldnt be surprised if they do.

This in an indicator that the economy is not moving along as the news media would like to have us believe.
When OPEC sticks us all with ever increasing oil prices, this is where we end up today in America.
Oil has doubled in price over the past 12 months and these jokers seem to think they can just increase the price of oil, "because the economy is moving".
This country is in trouble folks and OPEC has us by the balls even though very little of our oil comes from OPEC countries. Most of our imported oil in the US comes from Canada.
We are all being royally screwed here.

Pretty much. I was wondering why they still were continuing to hire months ago actually. I'm not complaining though because I got an incredibly good schedule out of it though.

Just going to keep looking for jobs. I have one month left at my current CFI gig before that school closes. Thinking about getting out of aviation for a while.
Umm if Ameriflight cancelling class causes you to want to get out of aviation how much were you really in it?
I don't know that I agree with that argument. He did say "for a while". I keep waiting for my plane to sell so I can do the same...for a while.

This is my career. It's what I studied to do and I can't imagine temporarily leaving and then coming back.

So just to clarify, 13 pilots that were in training are told they are going back to the pool, OR 13 LINE pilots are furloughed?

Talking to some sources in the junior bases, bottom guys are line pilots. So, if someone wants to chime in on some official info on those 11, that will make it not so much of a rumor. The class, a pilot was just about to start and the training captain got the call to shut down. Bummer.
